Teen Pregnancy Pact and "The Juno Effect"

If you haven't heard it or seen it on TV, the radio, or in the magazines and papers, a group of 17 Gloucester High students became pregnant.  8 of them had entered into a pact with the INTENTION of becoming pregnant with the understanding that they would "raise the kids together," which I guess might be some sort of throwback to the way fishing ( Read more... )

You gotta look into the trend of modern society as a whole that is erasing (if it hasn't entirely already) the line of innocence between children and adults. Not just teen pregnancy, but -everything- that teens are exposed to. Whatever your views on the subjects of how and why it's happening, you have to admit that the age at which someone can be truly called an "innocent child" is getting lower and lower.

Think about that for a while, then look at this situation again.

Your claim that the age of innocence (so to speak) is getting lower all the time doesn't support the girls or what they did at all. I'm actually not sure where you're trying to go with that. If anything, the fact that teenagers are becoming adults faster and faster in modern society lends WEIGHT to the argument that they need to rustle up some responsibility. Because as you and I BOTH know, you cannot have your cake and eat it too. When you decide to grow up and enjoy the freedoms that come with it, you also have to shoulder the responsibilities that come with it ( ... )
