i don't think i would have predicted that. deer aren't small and are fast...i thought coyotes ate rabbits and smaller animals.

Coyotes (and wolves, and bears, and just about every other carnivore or omnivore in the wild) are scavengers and opportunists. They might prefer a fresh kill, but they won't pass up an easy meal. The deer might have been sick or injured already, or it might have been dead before the Wyle E. got there.

It's the ciiiirrrrcle of liiiiiiiiife!

Also, happy birthday. Clearly the coyote is giving you a gift. If there is anything left, you should collect the bones & cast them. I would totally buy cast animal bone jewelry from you.

i think deer bones would be too big to use for jewelry, but i totally plan to go out there and collect the scraps after the coyotes have had their fill. :P i really want the skull for some reason. (and no, it doesn't have antlers, & i wouldn't mount it or anything)

and thanks honey!! :) march?!?! yay!!!

D: That was my initial expression. All we get are urban foxes attacking trash bags.

Happy belated birthday!
