What does it say about our species that one of the first things we program robots to do is to PRETEND that they are dissatisfied with the demeaning jobs we ask them to do, even though they don't actually have the capacity to be dissatisfied?

Anthropomorphizing robots is one thing, wanting them to share in the misery of the human condition sounds a lot like parenting.

I think it speak of our existential angst, and our desire to play rather than work. I know that some people have effectively managed to merge the desire to play with the need to work, but I think that on the whole that is not the reality of the human condition.

Or, maybe I'm reading too much into things.
