I'm feeling rather odd today. (And yes, I just know what comments that remark is prompting some pathetic uncreative little minds to ferment today, so I'll pre-empt you and tell you not to bother.) It's possibly due to the... family reunion, shall we say? After running around like a lunatic telling people what needed telling over the past few days,

I have a question about souls. Drusilla told me that she don't have one. She lost it, apparently, and now she has a demon in her instead.

Now it seems to me, that she couldn't be there talking and ... well... *is certain that the angel doesn't want to hear what Jack and Dru have been up to in the hut*... talking let's say, if she didn't have her soul.

That is, if soul's are real. And on that matter, I ain't entirely sure. I think I know what a soul is, assuming it's anything at all, but ... I ain't sure that a soul is actually anything at all.

*hopeful* So, I figured, who would know better than you about this soul business. So, souls... is there such a thing? And can a person misplace theirs? Or is Dru's soul in heaven?

This is one of the places where even knowing all your languages only makes this worse. What people call a soul is not always the same thing. Remember that rose by any other name thing? Well if people go around calling other things roses how do you know what they talk about when they use the same bloody word?

Drusilla is still here. She can still talk and think and love. She can still do right and wrong. And where she goes... in the end... is still in her hands.

What a soul is and is not is all rather pointless because it's nothing but a word, when it's this *taps a finger on Jack's chest* that counts.

That said, things are a little more... difficult for her these days. There are ways to get what some would consider her 'soul' back if she wanted it.

The Marquis de Carabas said you were one I ought to seek out amongst the many in this journal. I've never met an angel before, but you seem decidedly noble. And life requires its silliness, after all. It would be so dreadfully dull without it.
