Well, you can always post a link to another site hosting your story and edit the post with actual chapter later when lj is working again...

We'll see about the being back part. Just having a sleepless night.

I've so much reading to catch up on... But I decided to wait till your story is complete before I read it. In case you were wondering why you didn't hear from me.

Hope everything's still going well. (With writing and with life.)

That's cool! I totally understand not reading WIPs. They can frustrate you to no end.

Everything's going pretty well. I've been mostly writing original stuff, but I put about a thousand words into that Brian/Justin FBI/thief ficlet I was telling you about. And I have ingeniously titled it "A Wanted Man". *g*

stories in which the protagonist (and their romantic interest) are the only people in the story who are not evil
What is this strange story that you're talking about? And where would one find such peculiar storytelling?

LOLZ...........

Cal showing up was not a surprise but killing himself a little surprised. I just thought Justin wouldn't see him again. Guess not. Brian still can not stay away. Great update.

If Cal hadn't killed himself, we would have definitely seen him again. Justin was right when he said that Cal would have turned up drunkenly time and time again--he doesn't let go easily. But. Y'know. You guys don't see him long enough to know him that well.

And Brian is, as always, helplessly drawn to Justin. *g*

Meth, you write teenage angst so well. Justin doesn't really trust any one. When people want to help, he doesn't want to take it because he thinks it shows weakness. So he seems abrupt with everyone in the name of Luke.

If Justin were older, he would have developed empathy - but that doesn't really finish developing until early 20's. He is nervous around Cal, which is understandable, because he can't put himself in Cal's shoes and understand how devistated the poor man was when his daughter died.

If Cal leaves Justin or Luke money, I hope Justin chokes on it for his lack of empathy for the old man. But, like I said. He's too young to get that.

What he does "get" is sex with Brian. So his focus now is primarily with raising Luke and hoping Brian will bang him.

Justin's always been extraordinarily good at getting behind causes, whether they're his own or the community's. Right now, he's campaigning for one thing: Luke. He's overprotective and defensive, and he has just about zero trust in adults (and believe me, Cal's death isn't going to help things).

Secondarily, there's Brian. If it weren't for Brian inserting himself into Justin's life, I have no doubt that Justin would cast him aside completely. He may look forward to seeing Brian, but he won't actively seek him out, not when it would mean abandoning Luke.

Writing this teenage single-mindedness was extremely fun, because I love it when I get to write a narrator who's this much of a drama queen. I'm glad to find someone who appreciates the effort that went into bending the narrative!
