Grad school annoyance
For the last week I've been puzzled about why the ling faculty at Northwestern seem to dislike me. We've been at war for four and a half years now. although we're all aware of the daily tragedies in Iraq that make this war increasingly indefensible, detailed accounts of the American causalities are not much discussed anymore, at least not by the press I read. A very belated milestone
After a less than perfect parallel parking job and a <1/16 mile "road" test around the DMV office in Bortondale, PA...I am a licensed driver.
I'm thrilled and relieved, but still rather alarmed. That should have been a lot harder. -

I've lived in Rock for two years now and until tonight had never taken part in that age-old tradition unique to this crusty dormitory: painting the leaded glass window on the door to my room. PIctures to follow.

When I fall asleep it is your eyes that close
This morning I woke up thinking I had slept poorly, but could not recall the long minutes spent awake in the dark. It was only after a little while that I realized it was he who tossed and turned while I had slept beside him.
It has been a very long week but there have been moments that I will remember, even if this all ends badly.
