this machine means nothing to me.
this medium means everything to me.
the medium to share ideas and to portray concepts. to basically let everyone peak into your mind for just a split second is the meaning of my existance.
as you said, it's not the television that's the enemy, it's the people behind it.

(I guess I was just trying to point out that a detachment in reality wouldn't be so bad form time to time, but that's simply in my opinion.
Huxley, you bring up a good point. Mankind still is a bit primitive in a social way, and we interact in ways that are simply rooted from the internal instincts we've had this whole time. I hope you see what I'm saying here. Everything that man has come to know now is simply an extension of what we USED to know. Fights over territory (if ever) are related to confined court cases and formal settlements. Flying shotgun slugs replace arrows.
And trust me, we've definitely moved way too far ahead into the future. We need a new paradigm.

Of course, no one can blame anyone else for their personal decision on the subject of why they watch TV; it'd be cruel. Just like how we can change the channel on the television, we're always able to seek out something more meaningful being aired over marketable cartoons and really bad acting. We can't ignore those educational and inspirational tidbits, no. Have you ever heard anyone bashing TLC or A&E?
I guess that while I say
"TV isn't really that great"
and someone says
"what about educational programming?"
then I say
"why can't it all be that way, then?"
we want variety. TV is variety. this is the only reason i can think of. I still dislike mass amounts of advertising, though.
