ART Chapter 6 - Night Moves
The next day it began all over again. He and Sam wolfed down a breakfast of huevos rancheros as Maria chattered excitedly about how good Frank had been this morning. Sam squeezed her hand. “I’m happy for you, Maria.”
The line was back when they returned to the office, so Sam went to work immediately. Dean couldn’t get enough of watching him - the compassionate way he dealt with people, his voice soft with understanding. Halfway through the morning, Dean realized he was more than a little bit in love with the witch.
Dean was just about to do another cookie run when Bobby appeared at the door with a small platter holding two steaming cups of coffee and a plate of chocolate chip cookies.
Dean paused the line for a fifteen-minute break and ushered Bobby in.
“Hey, Bobby, good to see you.” Sam smiled a full-on sunshine smile, and Dean found himself standing there with a dopey grin on his face just watching it.
“How’s the leg, my man?”
“Oh, Mithder Tham, it’th great. I ran all the way here thith morning.”
“Wonderful. And thanks for the treats. I really needed a cookie.”
“And I need a coffee!” Dean reached over Bobby’s head and snagged the black one. Sam’s had entirely too much cream and sugar in it for Dean’s taste.
Bobby stood there, twisting his toe on the old wood floor.
“Was there something else, Bobby? Something hurt?”
“No, not exthactly. I wathwondering if you could do me a favor, Mithder Tham. I know you already fixthed me, but do you think you can fixth Maddy’th doll?”
“Maddy’s doll?” Sam looked perplexed.
“Bobby’s sister.” Dean filled in.
“Oh! Sure. Did something bad happen to Maddy’s doll?” Sam looked at Bobby, concerned. Dean knew he was thinking Frank was the problem.
“I twithded the head off by accthident.”
“Oh.” Sam bit back a smile. “Well, let’s see the patient.”
Bobby pulled the Barbie out of his back pocket and the head out of his front pocket.
Sam looked at it carefully, looking inside the head of the doll and running a finger around the neck. “Hmmm, tough case.”
Bobby’s expression sank visibly.
“But I think I can do it.” Sam held his hands over the broken doll. This time, instead of gold light, pale blue light came from Sam’s hands as the plastic slowly reformed itself and the head slid on perfectly. Even Barbie’s hair went from crazy frizzy to factory sleek, and the ripped sundress she was wearing looked bright and new.
“Whew. That was a difficult one. What do you think?”
Bobby picked up the Barbie. It looked brand new.
“Wow, thisth ith bewtiful, Mr. Tham! Maddy’th gonna love thith. Thank you!”
Bobby darted forward before Sam could move and kissed his cheek. Then he raced from the room, yelling, “Thank you, Mr. Tham, thank you, Dean!” as the door slammed behind him.
“Well.” Sam sat up, a grin on his face. “Another happy customer.”
They both laughed out loud.
¤ ¤ ¤
They finished up by late afternoon and decided to spend another night in town before heading back. Sam traded some of the things he received from his customers for fresh supplies, eggs, and chicken. There was even enough for jars of hot salsa and refried beans he knew Dean had become addicted to.
“Thank goodness it’s still cold out, we’ll be able to keep this fresh. It’s still two days to the Bunker,” Dean said as they were packing up.
“Doesn’t matter, really, I have a stasis spell that keeps everything from aging. Very handy when it comes to things like the eggs and meat.”
“I bet. Dad and I could have used a spell like that.”
“I could teach it to you. As a wolfen, you have enough magical aptitude to do it. Not everyone can cast fireballs or heal, but I think you could do some pretty handy regular spells.”
“Really? Awesome.”
They had dinner at the diner again. It was Monday night, so most of the crowd from last night had gone back to their farms. With only a few locals scattered around the room, Sam and Dean had the run of the place. When the lights dimmed and the jukebox got turned on, it wasn’t so hard to coax Sam out onto the dance floor again. Knockin' On Heaven's Door was playing, and Dean pulled Sam into his arms to dance. To his surprise, Sam came willingly, no fight of any kind, and they simply relaxed into the song.
“You know, Dean, this has been the most fun I’ve had on one of my trips in a long time.”
“Well, you’re with me, Sammy-boy. What else could you expect?” Dean chuckled and pulled Sam in closer. “I’m enjoying the hell out of this, too, Sam. Not bad for a marked man.”
Sam squeezed his hand. “We’ll get through this.”
“I know we will.”
¤ ¤ ¤
They danced till they shut off the jukebox. On their way back to their room Dean wanted some fresh air, so they bundled up against the cold and went out on the bar’s front stoop. The street was bathed in the pale blue light of a full moon. Dean and Sam just stood there arm in arm and breathed in the fresh air.
Dean had been hungry to see the moon. He’d been waiting in anticipation all day, everything amped up, his sense of smell, his sight, all his predatory instincts on high when the Mistress of the Moon came calling. Thanks to the tattoo, though, he wasn’t forced to shift like other wolfen. His wolfen nature was just more apparent at these times.
Never more so than now with Sam by his side. He inhaled deeply; in the cool crisp air, the heady scent of the witch was everywhere. He smiled and without thinking, turned Sam in his arms and kissed him. To his surprise Sam kissed him back, his tongue slipping in tentatively, wanting more. Dean growled approvingly. The witch tasted so good, as intoxicating as his smell.
Things progressed rapidly. Soon they were stumbling back to Sam’s office on one long kiss, bumping along the hallway and fumbling blindly at the office door. Sam fumbled at Dean’s vest, trying to loosen the buttons, while Dean tugged Sam’s kimono over his shoulders. Sam’s scent was deliciously heavy with arousal, and Dean’s cock swelled in response. The sweet smell tangled in his nose, and all he wanted to do was bury himself inside the witch. He growled and brushed Sam’s fumbling hands away so he could finish the job on his buttons.
For his part, Sam quickly divested himself of his robe, vest and shirt and was loosening his belt. It was the first time Dean had seen Sam’s naked chest, so it was a surprise to see his tattoos wound all the way up his arms and spread over his shoulders. Dean rapidly assessed the sleeping situation. He pulled all the cushions off the bottom and back of the old sofa and laid them on the floor and covered them with one of their bedrolls. He then sat down on the edge of their impromptu bed to shuck off his jeans and boots.
Sam was already halfway finished when Dean wrapped his arms around the witch’s hips and pulled him down on top of him. They fell in a laughing, squirming pile. Sam kicked off the last of his jeans and boots with a smile.
At first Dean kissed Sam, licking and nipping at his lips. Then he started to nuzzle and lick at Sam’s jaw and neck. He couldn’t get close enough as his hands travelled over Sam’s skin.
Keening with need, Sam grabbed Dean’s jaw and pulled him back to his mouth. Then he grabbed Dean’s head in his hands and rubbed the tufts of Dean’s ears over and over as he nuzzled at the seam of Dean’s lips. He pushed inside, claiming him with his tongue, as he ground against him.
Dean whimpered as his cock lengthened. He could feel the solid line of Sam’s matching arousal. Dean’s cock twitched as the silky skin of Sam’s own slid against him. He could only moan, helpless, as Sam flailed for his back pack, just within reach. The witch grabbed a small bottle and squirted something into his big hand, then gathered up their two cocks to strip them. The sensation was electric, the substance silky smooth and slippery, as Sam’s hand jacked them.
Sam continued to explore Dean’s mouth. Dean loved the small sounds Sam made,
Sam kissed a line down Dean’s jaw and along his neck. Dean tossed his head back, eyelids squeezed tightly closed as the witch bit down and sucked on first one hard nipple and then the other. All the while Sam never stopped, his hand twisting, slip-sliding up and down both of their cocks. Dean heard Sam’s breath hitch just before he flung his head back, and his eyelids snapped open, filling the room with a blue - green glow. A cry ripped out of him as he came.
A couple more desperate pulls and Dean was coming, too, hunched into Sam, panting like a freight engine of old as he spilled over Sam’s hand.
When he looked up, the witch was staring at him, blue-green light still pouring from his eyes, his scent curling hot and heavy around him, his tattoos hypnotically writhing along his arms and shoulders. Dean felt like the light shone into his very soul.
“Dean...” Sam whispered, voice rough with want.
Instinct took over, and Dean’s canines extended to their full wolfen length. He bit down on Sam’s collarbone, hard, and everything went white.
¤ ¤ ¤
They lay there together in a warm, fucked-out fog. Groaning, Dean forced himself out of bed and grabbed a washcloth off the dresser, dampening it in the pitcher and basin left there for them. He gently cleaned them both up. Then he climbed back into bed and twitched the other bedroll over them as they started to cool down.
He wrapped his arm around Sam and pulled him in close. Sam curled in, tucking his head under Dean’s chin like it had always belonged there. Dean smiled and rubbed his jaw against Sam’s silky soft hair, loving the smell and the soft curl of it tickling his skin. Sam’s scent was still tangled in his nose, but it had altered, different somehow, still sweet, but there was something extra. Dean rolled onto his back, taking Sam with him as he realized what it was. Now Sam smelled a little bit like him.
Dean’s mind moved sluggishly. One thought penetrated the haze - Sam’s scent. Then a dread realization hit him. Dean had bitten him during sex, not just any bite, but a shifter bite with wolfen teeth on a full moon. Sam had even encouraged it, but a bite like that could mean only one thing - a mating mark - and wolfen mated for life.
“Oh Sam, what have I done?” Dean whispered before sleep pulled him under.
¤ ¤ ¤
Dean woke the next morning with Sam sprawled across his chest like his very own blanket. The witch had his hands folded on Dean’s chest watching him.
“Like what you see?” Dean groused, still half asleep.
“Very much.”
Sam sleepily craned up for a morning kiss, Dean obliged willingly. Even now he could feel the thin, invisible bond linking them. He went into full panic.
“Sam, about last night…”
“I loved it, Dean. Just what the witch doctor ordered. We’ll have to do that more often.”
“No, that’s not what I mean. There’s something you need to know.”
“Yeah?” Sam lay there staring fondly at Dean, a lopsided grin on his face.
“So, ahhh, you know I’m wolfen”
Sam nodded and sat up.
“Remember the bite?”
“Hard to forget, Dean.” Sam’s grin dropped away when Dean gave no hint of a reciprocal smile.
Dean sat up in bed. He couldn’t do this lying down. “Last night, when I bit you, we formed a bond.”
“Ah.” Sam sat up straighter and with a grimace rubbed the mark on his collarbone. “So, that’s what I’ve been sensing.”
Dean had to tamp down a possessive growl when he saw his mark on Sam’s copper skin. He wanted to lean in and lick it, make sure it was not just his mark, make sure that his scent was all over his mate. Dean shook his head. He was supposed to be fighting this!
“When wolfen bond, they seal the mating bond with a bite.”
“That bite last night bonded us?” Sam eyes seemed to lose focus as he concentrated his attention inward. He nodded at Dean, “Yes, I can feel the threads linking us. Almost see them.”
“For life, Sam. For life!” Dean swallowed. “I’m so sorry. I don’t know what got into me. Why I did it. Maybe the full moon. I don’t know. It was pure instinct.”
Sam stood and stared at Dean, surprise but not devastation on his face. “Well, that kind of complicates things.”
“You’re telling me.” Dean stared at his hands. Guilt coursed through him.
Sam rose and leaned against the office desk, chewing at his thumb.
“I have to say, you’re handling this rather well. Becoming suddenly bonded to someone you hardly know the first time you have sex with them would upset me.”
“Well, maybe I’m not you.” Sam tipped his head, “Once we get back to the Bunker, I could probably find a way to break the bond. That is, if you want?”
“You think?” Dean looked up hopefully.
“Yeah, that might work, but Dean - do you really want to break the bond?”
Dean stared at Sam in open-mouthed shock.
“Your wolfen wouldn’t have wanted to bite me if it didn’t think we make a good match.”
“Are you saying you approve?”
“Well, maybe we should have talked about it first, but would it really have changed where we ended up?”
“But we hardly know each other.”
“Don’t we? I’ve never gotten along as well with anyone else in this world. All I know is I like waking up with you, Dean Winchester. I don’t need to find anyone else.”
Dean swallowed. He wanted to agree. Hell, his nose told him it was the right thing, and he already knew his wolfen side was totally on board. Why did he feel something was off? And how was Sam taking this so easily when he couldn't even trust his own body anymore?
“Let’s just see how things play out?”
They packed up their stuff, including their new supplies, said goodbye to Maria and Bobby and Mateo and his wife and headed back toward home.
Sam had them make one last stop near the end of town. It turned out to be a hatters. Inside, Luis shop specializing mostly in stetson’s. Sam made Dean try on several until he found one he thought looked best on him. Dean whistled when he saw it in the mirror. It was a soft green felt with an intricate band of decorative stones and fine stitch work in the form of running wolves. Dean loved it instantly.
“Sam!” He protested as Sam went to the counter to negotiate the price.
“Don’t argue with me Dean, I’m getting it for you. Looks great on you.”
Dean turned his head back and forth in the mirror. He had to admit, Sam had excellent taste.
“I have money, I can pay for it myself.” Dean protested.
Sam raised his hand halting Dean’s argument. “I’m getting it. Consider it a bonding gift.”
Dean chuckled and shoot his head. “You Sam Singer, are a crazy man.”
“I certainly am.” Sam grinned.
¤ ¤ ¤
Two days of solid sunshine while they were in Haymanville meant lots of snow was melting in the hills. The climb up the mountain was a lot more difficult. The trail was slushy, and the melting water kept washing out the path. It took them the full day and late into the night to get back to Polly’s Point.
“Oh my god, I always underestimate how miserable it is when the snow melts,” Dean complained as he unpacked Cas’s pack and started to rub him down. “I am covered in mud!”
“Yeah, me too. Fortunately, Polly’s Point has a little surprise out back.” Sam teased as he finished renewing the wards and the salt lines.
“A shower?” Dean asked hopefully. Sam grabbed two towels and headed around the side of the building to the back.
“Better! Check it out.” Sam waved his hand, presenting a tall wooden tub with a rusted potbelly stove beside it.
“What the hell is that?” Dean looked at the contraption. Pipes lead from a covered metal box on top of the stove into the tub.
“It’s an old-school hot tub. Whoever owned Polly’s Point must have rigged it up. I’ve tried to keep it in working order. It’s the bomb!”
“The bomb, huh?” Dean side-eyed Sam, unfamiliar with the phrase, but liking how it rolled around on his tongue.
“Yeah, if you could grab a couple loads of firewood from the pile there.” Sam pointed to the stack along the back wall of the cabin. “I’ll empty out the old water. There’s a pipe tied into the spring, so we have a good supply. We just need to heat it up.”
“Could’a used that in the house.”
“It probably had running water at one point. I was just never here long enough to bother fixing it up. But now that it’s the two of us, maybe we should.”
Sam emptied out the wood tub and started the fire. He opened the chute to let the spring water pour into the box over the stove. Once it was heated sufficiently, he let it flow into the tub first to clean it out, while he heated another batch to use.
“I’ll go rustle up some supper while the tub fills,” Dean volunteered, watching Sam set up enough firewood to cook a moose.
Inside Dean fed Cas his oats for the day and rifled through their packs of purchased items. Maria had sent them off with a basket of fried chicken which would be perfect for supper. To go with it he had a loaf of bread and cheese. He piled it all on an old wooden cutting board he found in the kitchen. Tucking a change of clothes for both of them under his arm, he headed back outside with the food. Then he remembered soap and rooted around in Sam’s bags until he found what he was looking for.
The tub was almost full by then, water steaming.
“We’re not going to cook in that thing, are we?”
Sam chuckled. “No, I’ve been checking the temperature, we’re good.”
Dean set their clothes on a stump. “I thought maybe we could soak and eat at the same time.”
“Excellent idea.”
There was even a sturdy wooden step to get into the tub. Sam stripped quickly and went first, moaning as he immersed himself in the steamy waters. Dean passed him the food before climbing in himself. The tub was big enough for the two men to sit facing each other and spread their arms out along the rim.
“Oh my God, Sam this is heavenly.” Dean dunked below the surface, and the tub overflowed briefly, carrying away muddy water.
Sam adjusted the waterflow down to a warm stream.
Dean closed his eyes and leaned back against the tub wall. “Mmmm.”
“Oh, you remembered soap and lube!” Sam said excitedly.
Dean tilted his head, “Yeah, I wanted to ask you about that. Did you think you’d get lucky this trip, or what? And where did you even get this stuff? It’s fantastic.” Dean shook the clear plastic bottle between his fingers, staring at it in fascination.
“No, no, nothing like that. It’s been in my pack for ages. When D…. my last relationship. It was always good to travel with some.”
“I can understand why. You could sell this stuff.” Dean set the bottle down on the tray and leaned back against the tub. “God, this is heaven.”
“Yeah, but I want to get clean before I eat. Or do anything else.” Sam waggled his eyebrows lecherously at Dean.
“You go right ahead.” Dean mumbled, with no intention of moving in the near future.
He did admit to taking a peek though, as Sam lathered up. He washed his hair and dunked, cascading water all over Dean when he came up for air.
“Hey, hey, hey! Have some respect. Resting man here.”
“Stinky man. Here, your turn.”
Dean opened his eyes just in time to catch the bar of soap Sam tossed toward him. Grumbling, he lathered up. When he dunked his own head for the second time, he didn’t splash Sam. Because he was the better person.
“Want me to do your back?” Sam was watching him with half-closed lids. Blue-green gleamed at Dean in the growing darkness.
“Mmm, yeah.” Dean turned obligingly, presenting his back. The witch moved closer to him in the water, and his large hand steadied Dean’s shoulder as the other gently lathered his back.
“Feel good?”
“Yeah.” Dean’s eyelids slipped closed as Sam’s skillful hands swept over his back. Then they moved to his chest and stroked downward to his cock. Dean rolled his head on Sam’s shoulder as Sam began to jack him.
“Isn’t this how we got in trouble in the first place?”
Sam chuckled in Dean’s ear. “I have something else in mind this time.” He nipped at Dean’s lobe.
“Whatever you say, Sammy-boy.” Dean’s cock was at full staff by the time Sam gently turned him to face him.
“I want to ride you this time.” Sam’s deep voice rumbled in Dean’s ear. He swallowed, nodding, and watched as Sam moved closer. “First, open me up,” Sam purred, handing Dean the bottle of lube.
Dean thought his brain cells might short out. Fumbling, he lubed up his hand and reached around, ran his fingers gently around Sam’s hole. Once he thought he had spread the silky substance around sufficiently, he pushed in one finger. Sam grunted. “S’okay, s’okay. It’s good. It’s just been a while,” Sam reassured him.
Dean hesitated, then with a look of determination added more lube to his fingers. He pushed in and out with one finger, before adding a second and pushing in deeper. He was rewarded with Sam’s needy whine. By the time he got to three fingers Sam’s cock was a thick ridge rubbing against Dean’s belly.
“’Nuff, time to go.” Sam panted, bracing one hand on Dean’s shoulder.
Dean pulled out his fingers barely in time as Sam reached down with his own lube slick hand to guide himself over Dean’s cock. Sam eased down, letting the head of Dean’s cock slide against his hole. The next time he pushed down a little lower, and harder so the head of Dean’s cock popped inside his tight entrance. Sam bit his bottom lip and rolled his head back and forth on his shoulders. As their pleasure spiraled, Dean watched transfixed as Sam’s tattoos spread down his fingers and moved across his hand onto Dean’s shoulder. Dean could feel the hot glide of the magical tendrils as they moved across his skin to join with Dean’s own tattoo across his back.
Dean arched in pleasure when Sam’s tattoo linked with his. The silver on his back flowed, mating with the lines of Sam’s ink. As they moved, sparks of pleasure coursed through Dean’s skin. He was on fire and in absolute bliss all at the same time. “Sam…” he moaned.
He opened his eyes to see the same orgasmic look on Sam’s face that Dean imagined he was wearing. Sam continued to work himself up and down, riding Dean’s shaft. With each thrust, he sank lower as their pleasure peaked higher. Dean didn’t know which he was getting more pleasure from, the mating of their tattoos or the joining of their bodies.
Dean growled and licked his lips. “God, Sam, so good, so fucking good.”
Sam rocked down one more time, letting out a long cry as he took Dean’s cock to the hilt. Dean bit his lip as Sam’s tight, hot sheath fully enveloped him.
"Oh, hell yes," Dean grunted, hugging Sam tight to him.
Sam paused, his breath hissing through his teeth as he adjusted to the thickness, the feel of being filled. When Dean felt Sam relax, he whispered, “Come on, Sammy, fuck me, fuck me hard...”
It was all Sam needed. He began to ride Dean in earnest. Water splashed over the edge of the tub as Sam worked himself up and down on Dean’s cock. Dean had to hold onto the tub walls with both hands to keep them anchored.
And Sam! Sam was like some kind of glorious water god, rising up out of the water, sweat and water running over his body as he rocked down again and again.
Dean wanted it to last forever, but he knew he was close. Sam’s tattoos had fully entwined with his own, pulsing in sync with Sam’s thrusts. He cried out, “Gonna come, Sammy. Come with me, baby. Now!” as he rocked upward to meet Sam’s thrust. And Sam cried out, his eyes snapping open. Blue light filled the sky, and his cock twitched between them as he came. Sam bore down, riding out his own orgasm, pushing Dean over the edge. He cried out and grabbed Sam’s face and pulled him in for another kiss.
Exhausted, they collapsed, still joined, Sam’s head resting on Dean’s shoulder, his arms curled around him in the warm water. Dean could feel Sam’s tattoos slowly untwining and retreating. The light in Sam’s eyes returned to normal.
“Sam, what the hell? I mean, I’m not complaining, but what the hell?”
“I have no idea, but I’m not complaining, either.”
“Wild…” Dean let out a ragged breath and let his eyes slip closed.
“Sam….”
“Mmmm?”
“We gotta get a hot tub at the Bunker.”
Eventually, hunger forced them to untangle, and they descended on the chicken and buttered bread and cheese like starving men. Afterwards, they simply relaxed in the warm water and watched the stars. Neither one wanted to talk any more about tattoos or blue lights. They just soaked up each other’s presence.
“So, this is what being mated could be like,” Dean stated.
Sam leaned back on Dean’s chest and looked up at him. “Seems like.”
“Not bad.”
Sam sighed. “I like it, too.”
Dean kissed his mate on the temple. His finger trailed down the scar on Sam’s left cheek. “How did you get this?”
“I tried to stop someone from hurting someone I loved.”
“Did they ever bother you again?” Dean felt a wave of fierce protectiveness.
“No, and they never will.”
“Good.”
