I dont really have an exact idea or advice to give you, but at the end of the day go with gut instinct and what you will will be beneficial for you. if you're bored/restless of college you may not excel as well as you could do, if you were in a job with experience and a bust atmosphere where you could learn. Sometimes experience looks a lot better on a CV rather than a degree that everyone has. I mean, it shows you have initiative and independance. (this keeps being hammered into my head at uni.) So yeh. Maybe give it one more go and if not, leave?
yeah, i'm definitely not going to university. i spoke to my dads best mate about it and he said if i went to uni it would be a complete waste of time. basically i'll leave uni at 22 or whatever and get the same job that i would have got when i was 18. so it's no shortcut whatsoever. i definitely want to go the experience way, it's just college is LAME. so i'm probably gona give it a go again and see how i feel in october/november time. no point in doing something if i don't like it.xx
I think the third option is best, just see what you think for a little while when you go back, you may find yourself motivated! If not then find something else to do.
Don't let people make you think these decisions are life or death, you're young and the world is your oyester!
yeah i'm more inclined to see how i feel when i go back rather than pressurise myself into staying there for the whole year. i'm considering applying for jobs in august time cause i can always turn them down if i decide to stay on.xx
i'm wanting to the the exact sort of thing as you and i'm lucky enough to have my college 2 mins from my house. i've been able to do the BTEC national diploma in media production which is sorted. to be honest, media and film studies are interesting, but you won't need it if you want to go into audio production. music technology would be more useful to you.
the thing with the 'industry' is that its more about experience than qualifications. you start off, get contacts, get a reputation and work your way up the system.
if you want to learn FCP, buy "final cut pro for dummies"....it's a god send and i'm always using it as a reference book when i'm in the editing suite. (WELL jealous you have it at home!!!!)
haha! yeah i've got contacts cause my dads best friend runs his own post production company and i did work experience with him last summer, got paid a fair amount of money seeing as i was only 17 and i've got a reference as well! so i'm sorted for work experience, it's just getting a job. i'm fully aware that it's more experience orientated than qualifications which is why uni is out of the question. kind of relieved about that to be honest! i'll definitely look into getting that final cut for dummies book, cheers for the advice ur a legend!xx
