Paul and David sat facing each other in the small sushi restaurant, a bowl of warm, salted edamame between them.

Paul asked, “So how was your day, dear?”

David began describing his day, and all was quite pleasant until Paul interrupted, “Did you just say, ‘Kill all the monkeys’?”

I was expecting this to go someplace lighthearted and silly. Did not see this ending coming. Good thing getting one over on me. And wow, creepilicious! (What in blue the hell was in that edamame?!)

The end was very surprising! Very well done. I suppose edamame has that effect on some people, although a homicidal spree does seem a little extreme.
