♥ So much happens in this chapter! XD Too many good things to quote, but the moment that sticks with me most is Al 4th mirror connecting with (guessing here ^^; ) Al 2nd mirror. Very cool. Reminiscent of the latest manga chapters too.
You're mostly right...mfelizandyAugust 25 2008, 18:31:59 UTC
Al has indeed "connected" with another Al. Writing that scene was dicey--had to drop the right hints without giving everything away! I'm always interested to see which scenes and images stick in a reader's mind--sometimes I'm surprised by what grabs someone's attention!
This is a very busy chapter indeed, and the next one is likely to be very much like it in terms of lots of jumping back and forth among the mirrors. I'm wrestling with how to present First-Mirror Roy's first experience with time travel, and making up my mind as to who he'll bump into first. Once I get that sorted out, the rest of Part Ten should come together fairly neatly. I've got the Ishbalan Elders ready and waiting for their introduction. I've been looking forward to writing them for months.
Thank you for the comment! I love knowing people are sticking with me!

^^ Well, what 'sticks' too is the funny bits, like Hughes' neighbours blow-by-blow account *snigger*, or when Hughes puts on his uniform and notices he's gained weight (that's so RL-like it sticks out - in a good way.) Of course, there's stil the mystery surrounding Hoho the Prof. And you have me wondering why even an insane Ed whould cage Al and have him tortured... There are a lot of torture-involving fics out there, so I'm kinda hoping there won't be too much of that (or just brought in a different way or something -- being difficult? moi? ^^;;; ), but who knows? We might 'bond' with chibi!Roy more that way. ;) Al seems sane over there, so I'm extra curious about 2nd mirror Ed's background now. Wonder what Al lost and all that.
The jumping back and forth is really good, actually (I might be biased there: I really like trying to work with time-hops, or universe hopping in this case)
Anyway, good luck working everything out; I'm sure it'll be great. :D

I'm not planning on doing much in the way of "on-camera" torture, actually. Torture tends to get old fast as a plot device, as there's only so much screaming one character can do before it gets repetitive, and as a reader I often skip past most of it to get to the rescue/recovery part. Psycho-Ed does have a good reason for snatching up Roy and tormenting an Al or two, but exposing those reasons involves revealing the full nastiness of the villian, so it has to wait for a bit yet

Oh, good, I'm glad you like the Roy-centrism. I'm such a Roy fangirl that most of the plots that I generate end up focusing on him. One of the reasons to let Hughes live is to please Roy--but it might take some of the impact off of the finale to rescue him.
Psycho-Ed resulted from small differences in a couple of historical events in his timeline. One of the most fun things about writing this story has been finding out what the characters will do if this or that canon event is tweaked. Some of them react in pretty extreme ways, Ed being the most dramatic case.
Hi,I kind of stumbled across this story and it's really good. It has a nice thick plot and charaters are intersting. You should post it to sparks and steel and get more fan input. It's blockbuster, truly;). I was wondering do you know anything about Feral Mustang, it is one of my favorite WIP and was just wondering if it still on hiatus or if I missed the postings.
Re: gggggggreatmfelizandyMarch 18 2009, 19:03:59 UTC
I'm one of the writers on Feral Mustang, actually, and my collaborator and I haven't forgotten about it, we've just both been sort of caught up in other projects and the dreaded vagaries of Real Life.
I'm glad you enjoyed the story so far! I certainly do intend to get back to it and finish it. Just a question of when I stop dashing madly about tending to my aquarium, car repairs, apartment-keeping, working, etc., etc., ad nauseam
I might post to Sparks and Steel, though I thought that was more intended for yaoi rather than genfic. I usually post to FM_Alchemist when I put up a new bit, and that reference generally gets picked up by the FMA_Herald community on LJ.
Thanks for the comment, they really do perk up my days!
I am really sorry to bother you but are you planning on continuing this? I mean this is one of my favourite FMA fics and I would be really sad to see this abandonned.
Not a bother at all...mfelizandyOctober 24 2009, 22:35:16 UTC
Encouragement to keep chugging on a fic is never a bother. To answer your question, I've not abandoned this fic by any means--in fact I've got about ten pages more of it written as of now. The reason I haven't posted those pages is that I'd hit a wall soon after posting Part Nine, and then I got distracted by "Balance of Power", which is now on hiatus, so I've had time to think about this fic again, and work my way around the block. The workaround, of course, complicated the plot--what I thought was going to be the Big Finish has now been eclipsed by an Even Bigger Finish. At this point, I'm still moving scenes around and inserting new ones to set up events later on. I want to make sure that folks can read the story without resorting to taking notes to keep track of it! :)
So yes, I am still working on "Kaleidoscope of Hours", and I'm delighted someone still remembers it and likes it enough to ask about it!

Also sorry to bother you, but you've made this lurker very happy with this story, and i hope that someday you'll continue it. Seriously, after a year completely out of fandom (thank you RL) this is the first WIP i checked up on. If you continue, i guess you'll post in obvious places like ? If you're not planning on continuing, thanks for sharing what you have; it's one heck of a beginning that i'm sad i won't get to finish!
So someone wants to kill Roy's past. BluePhoenix!Roy brought child!Roy to the future to keep him safe. Psycho!Ed does not seem to know much about child!Roy except that something fishy is going on and power is involved; he is interested in child!Roy for the power, I think. Hughes is so brave against Ed
