I’m working on my resume and cover letter for Dream Job and all I have so far is the decision to not re-work a past cover letter, but start from scratch.

So I have a blank piece of paper.

Anyway here’s my resume of Things They Didn’t Ask For:
  1. Very seldom cries in the office
  2. Able to calmy teach people things they should be able to figure out by googling ( Read more... )

I think the things not on your resume are highly under-rated. Those are golden skills!

i know (I mean, sometimes when we're hiring I'd much rather have this kind of skills list because nothing ruins an office's vibe like a total asshole >:| ) but sadly modern hiring focuses on other things.

Yes, and some of the hiring things done now strike me as SO silly. I worked one place where they gave a brief Myers-Briggs test, and if you didn't come out this certain one - not hired. They barely talked to people. It was weird.

it is a lot of work (emotional labour in the workplace is so ignored) but mostly i need to keep in mind that no one really wants to have problems and no one's doing it out of spite (maybe out of ignorance, but eh, what can you do about that) so may as well just go for it.
