I was overwhelmed by the way that the story seemed to control the "big" feeling completely, despite being limited to just a few sets and locations. Pertwee and Manning were both great, but it was Vorg and Shirna that stole the show for me. This is also the exact kind of story that I hope the current series never does; I can't shake the feeling that the great story and characters would be lost in effects and morality.
