for science's sake, i have been reading a book on wicca lately. i'm only half-way through cos i can only stand so much goddess speak in one sitting but i did have a revelation this morning due to last night's chapter. the priestess/author was listing different rituals and such and it seemed to me at the time that each was just too much trouble, ( Read more... )

It's funny that I think we are doing the exact same things. Only I am doing it only with my brain and not with books. Only I am kind of doing it with books because it is a fraction the basis of one of the classes I am taking, but only a fraction, and I would be thinking about this stuff anyway.

reading your journal lately i feel like we're doing the same things too. there's definitely something to be said for synchronicity (hence my wanting to read that book about it).

as for brains v. books- my brain is small and feeble! i garner all my knowledge from reading, it seems. well, that and tv.

I can't manage more than one book a time, either. Although, I think, when I was a kid, I used to occasionally have a few books on the go at once. Let us know how the experiment works out for you!

I do most of my reading before I sleep at the moment, but I've been so tired by the time I get to bed each night that the most I've been able to manage is a few pages - and half of those have to be re-read the next night because I was barely conscious at the time. The book I'm currently stuck on is "The Age of Longing" by Arthur Koestler, and I feel like it's turned into some kind of hallucinatory treadmill that I'll never be able to get off.

i was actually having this same exact issue as well and in the end i just scrapped what i was reading because the frustration got to be so much. i'm not sure, but i think the secret of my reading books in the multiple right now is that it's all non-fiction! i'm set to start the 2nd to last harry potter here soon so we'll see how that ties in and if i do in fact get confused and have go back to one-book-at-a-time.
