yes, thank goodness shyamalan pulled out! i think he had one trick up his sleeve and it's quite used up now.

as for cuaron, i think he did amazingly well with the last harry potter. the two HP films before it were boring at best but the last was quite great- comparatively at least. i was quite disappointed to hear he's did not direct the latest HP.

i was thinking about it this morning though and jeunet is probably the best choice- i can already imagine his sets and animals and i think he'll do a very good job.
