The weekend was a 60 hour migraine. Special thanks to my boyfriend for taking such good care of me, and to my room mate for keeping the birthday celebration "off-site

I start crying the minute Shug's father get's that look on his face when he hears her singing in the distance, and I don't stop until the credits have finished running... (and then there are aftershocks, like now, when I think about it..)

I barely watched 20 minutes of it, but from what I saw/heard, Chris Rock was the only good thing about it and the primary reason why most people even bothered to watch.

well, if it was the worst Oscars ever, then I won't fret much about fading in and out during the broadcast. I thought the bit about "did you see White Chicks?" was pretty funny, but the rest of it, I thought he was reaching for his laughs...
I woke up at one point when they were doing a tribute to Johnny Carson, and I got sad. He really was one heck of a class act, that Mr. Carson. He was the perfect host for Oscar too, not because he was all that funny, but because he really did have an observer's role on the whole Hollywood thing...
I don't like Chris Rock either, honestly. and I have no idea why you watched Catwoman. Funny, though, appparantly Halle showed up in person to receive her "Worst Actress" razzie award.
being the comic book geek that I am, I felt obliged to at least watch the movie once. I didn't buy it. What I thought was funny was Halle's introduction last night on the Oscars (I guess I saw more than I thought I did) when they said "soon to be seen in the eagerly awaited Catwoman II". I couldn't say whether Catwoman sucked all that bad or not, but I will say that she looked pretty good in the part... I remember having serious issues with her being called Patience. Everyone knows her name is Selena Kyle.
While I understand why some things are changed for movies, that is a change I just don't understand. Why can't they just keep it the same?
Funny side note, I laughed when watching "Catch me if you can" this weekend, and he named himself Barry Allen at one point. I kept waiting to see if he used other Super Hero names.
I thought that they changed the name because they didn't want to confuse Halle with Michelle, from Batman Returns, but frankly, that was almost 15 years ago, so I don't see it making that much of a difference. I remember when they did it with Dr. David Bruce Banner for the Hulk TV series. UGH! Everyone knows his name is Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, because back in the 60's someone (probably Stan Lee) spent an entire issue running around calling him Bob Banner, and so they changed the mythology to allow for it. I'm ok with leaving some stuff out. I'm not so ok with changing it.
as for "Catch me if you Can", that was another movie that I drifted in and out of when I caught it on cable. I guess I missed the Barry Allen reference. I'm pretty sure I would have caught it if I had been paying attention at that point in the film. Leonardo just does nothing for me. He looks the part in period pieces, but I have a hard time thinking that he's acting... EVER. Oh well, ya can't like everyone.
