I may not be going to as many shows as I once did (due in no particular order to: not as much disposal income, i.e. having a spare $30 for a ticket to see a band that I've seen before for half that and in a much smaller venue, not to mention the added costs of gas and drinks and merch; not finding as many interesting shows as before; laziness; ( Read more... )

You must be mistaking me for a guy who a) has music on his computer and b) knows how to send music. I am none of those guys. Sorry.

At the Decemberists show I went to this week, Colin Meloy forced the audience into a "yes we can, yes we did" back and forth shouting match. It was kind of awesome. Before that he went on and on about how the world seems so much better now. It's true.

dude, seriously that Garbage cover is WEAK. WEAK WEAK!! I always liked the Elliott Smith version.

But I think the world has maybe hit carrying capacity on "Thirteen" covers. It's like doing "Yesterday".

The Elliott Smith version is great too, but Garbage added freaking atmospherics and electronic shit to that jam. Everyone can do it acoustically.

swedish rockers dungen gave a shout out to Obama last night as well.

btw i love travis, but i never seen them live. i love fran. i haven't heard their last 2 or 3 records. i guess they lost me after 12 Memories. i wince a little to admit my love, but whatevz, sometimes you need inoffensive, nice smooth pop rock to softly bob your head to.

Travis always seem better in retrospect, I think. I really didn't like 12 Memories for a while, but then it really grew on me. Same thing with their last album. I remember reading reviews on how it was boring and more of the same and then I read reviews of their new album and everyone's like "remember when their last album was awesome??" WTF. But yeah, their last album was another grower and I came to love it. Seriously, they can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.

haha its funny because i put on 12 Memories after I wrote that and realized that i knew all the songs and thought to myself "it's not as bad as i remember..."
