As if it needs to be said, I rarely read the Bible. Gah. My grandma begs, implores, entreats and just about bullies me into reading at least a verse a day, she says. C'moooonnn, read it. Read the Old Testament- especially if you can find a copy with the Rabbinaical commentary.

okay. i'll keep that in mind. but i'm taking baby steps. :P

I always thought my parents were remarkably unhip, and though well educated, not a tenth as well-read as I.

same. and yet you're right, my parents and grandparents have taught me a lot of things about life and i'm just at that point where i'm beginning to appreciate them.

Here's a good reason to shy away from God:

If he does exist, it's my firm belief that he's a lot like me, cruel, somewhat sadistic, and finds great amusement in the suffering and stupidity of others.

How else would you explain the state of the world?

hehe. ye of little faith. he does exist. how else can a magnificent and unique creature like you exist if not for an all-powerful being like Him? :P

One of the reasons why I gave up on being Roman Catholic was that I just couldn't find the wisdom in priests taking a vow of celibacy and then secretly tolerating each other's dalliances. Why should any "good" man be celibate anyway? Sex isn't evil. We say it's God-given but we think of purity in terms of being celibate. I think you couldn't get any purer than when you share your body with someone you love.

i completely agree. however, i haven't given up on it just yet. i'm still at the re-evaluation phase.
