That La's song bugs me. It's a total rip off of VU it's not even funny. Then there's the commercial. Otherwise your list is solid. Love 'em all. And damn, you should post more often.

I always thought it was an homage. Obviously, it has a similar chorus to VU's "There She Goes," but musically sounds more like VU's "Sunday Morning." I always thought it was sort of clever: VU was a heroin band, the La's wrote a song about heroin that references VU's music. One thing I adore about the original (and loath about the cover) is that the vocals are so snarly and raspy -- a nice foil to the saccharine hook.

I came in here tonight to see if Merlin had posted anything about Silkworm being killed by a model.

You're probably right. This is the only The La's song I've heard so I really have no business running my mouth.

I heard about the Silkworm guy, but for the life of me I can't think of one Silkworm song.
