Odd coincidence... My job also entailed a rare dedication to art-making today. I'm desgnng a course that call for entertaining PowerPoints, and I'm treating every slide lke a lttle piece of art.

The amazing thng is that the day flies really quickly on days like this. When I immerse myself in creative work, I experience time n a completely different way. No pain. No boredom. No distractions. I sit at my desk all day without even needing to stop for refreshment or bladder relef.

My goal is to fill my calendar with days like this.

Oddly, spreadsheet work gives me a similar rush. I have a wonderful network of spreadsheets that I use to track my expenses, and I find it gratifying plugging in the information and seeing how it affects my overall budget. I'm not sure I can explain it, but it's not dissimilar to arranging elements on a page.

I think I understand about the spreadsheet work. I find tabulating grades extremely gratifying. I work so much in the realm of judgment and discernment (making comments on writing style, etc.) that it's a perverse thrill to work on something so completely objective.
