Facebook et al
Hey, it's rather sad that most of my mates don't do LJ anymore but we're all on Facebook, which encourages shallow posting. I mean it's nice to get one jar of vegemite (I prefer promite) and send one flower, then after that it's downhill. People love applications but to respond you've got to sign up to something new. Recovery
Ok so I'm in a better mood about writers - apart from anything else new people have showed up at gatherings and the fact that we don't have a festival to run and co-ordinators to acquire which is a job in itself with interviews and contracts, the committee is left with a little more time for the meat and potatoes. ZineWest Launch
Well the carnival is over and the zine, warts and all, has hurried out into its very small world of contributors, local writers, rellies and anyone we can ambush. The wonderfully enlightened experts at the Sydney Writers Festival have come out with a definition of a zine. Describes our publication efforts to a 't'. Suddenly we are respectable (sort of). Amateur is okay. Photocopying the sign of a genuine zine. Lack of profit perfectly acceptable. And SWF bless their hearts are so warm towards us shoestring ( Read more... ) -

Joke for the week (from an editor's point of view) I got quite excited about a contribution to ZineWest from Ghana - I was going to offer this talented Samuel a spot on the website as a registered member - until I googled his poem. Housing
We've been lazily driving down the coast from SP to Narooma. Narooma has loads of natural things to look at and many streets are near the spotted gum forests and water ways. However on one of our last tours around town we went by the industrial area. At its edge was a monstrosity - the kind of development you see cloned around cities and country ( Read more... ) -
