The other day, I spent 99 cents to improve my gas mileage. I bought a credit card sized calculator, at Big Al's, to live in my car and compute gas mileage on each fill up, right then and there. It's springtime and a young gardeners thoughts turn to mulch. Or so it seems. Landscape design currently seems to think that a garden is a tree or a couple of bushes, maybe some stones, surrounded by an ocean of mulch. Often 6-10" in thickness.

The right direction is True South. That is the way your house should point it's largest number of windows. Fewer to the West and East, little to the North.
