The procedure is more annoying than it is scary. The only discomfort I experienced was when I got shot up with a numbing agent of some sort. The needle was long and intimidating. But she applied a topical anesthetic that tasted like bubble gum and it took the edge off. How much pain you'll be in is dependant upon the orientation of the tooth. Hopefully, your dentist will only have to cut into the gums and then yank out the tooth. There's some stuff you need to do to ensure proper clotting and healing, but there's loads of information all over the internet if you're like me and didn't listen to your dentist explain aftercare procedures.
