I did hear that book fans aren't so happy, but as a non-book reader, I liked the season a lot. My main issue was Dany's lack of storyline. (Like, she spent three episodes saying "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS". Surely there must have been more material for her.)

*butts in*

To be fair, Dany doesn't really have much of a plotty storyline in the book? The show actually added a lot to her story in an attempt to make it more exciting for TV, so those changes were kind of refreshing (except for a few that were really upsetting, but I don't want to spoil the books for you in case you plan on reading them).

As a TV viewer, it was a bit of an anti-climax. The Season 1 finale was all OMG Dany has dragons! And then she just kind of wanders around, visits a city, and loses them. Thrilling stuff. The Dany/Jorah scenes were the best part of her storyline for me.

I see how it was an anti-climatic, but the show did add more action, there was just really no material to spice things up. The second book is not Dany's book like first was. In the books it's a lot more walking and wandering aimlessly, so I think they did a lot with what they were given? Dany's arc is amazing in S1/book 1, but it kind of tapers off into something different I'm not sure a lot of people were anticipating given the OMG DRAGONS ending.

Lucky. I still haven't watched season 2. I haven't finished the book yet and we don't get HBO (*cries over the fact that she has to miss Christopher Maloni's appearence in true blood*). All the sites I go to catch up with these things have been taken down, lol. So I have to wait until they're out on DVD. Which is cool because I like to make my own screencaps/graphics. But yeah. Was it an awesome season? Does Sansa survive? Tell me she survives. And Tyrion. And that whole plot that happened in the books (lol yes I spoiled myself because these two are my favorite characters ever).

As for Meme....

How about a Sansa who shows up in TVD world? Either reincarnated or carried there via magic.

OMG WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ALL MY PRECIOUS STREAMING SITES D: like I am legitimately starting to worry about my ability to view my favorite shows RN and it's just, it's not a good feeling :(

SEASON 2 WAS WONDERFUL (IMO), I know quite a few book readers are disappointed (and I am among them where a few things are concerned tbh), but overall I really enjoyed it just as much as the first (if not more so where certain bits were concerned).

SANSA AND TYRION WERE FABULOUS IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED (Y) (except, I wish there was more Sansa, but the time constraints and what have you I won't begrudge them that too much lol).

ohhh that is an interesting prompt *mulling it over*

I always fail at getting through comments /o\ I just fail at LJ in general, tbh /o\

Right now I am actually kind of glad of a break from Game Of Thrones? Most of the deviations from the book this season didn't bother me, but the ones that did REALLY, REALLY bothered me. Thanks for messing up one of my favorite plot lines, David and Dan, thanks ever so much. I think what I'm upset most about is that I defended the changes (i.e. Robb/Talisa) over and over because I thought it was going SOMEWHERE, then I felt betrayed by the finale. Also, it really bothers me that they seemed to have made the role more ~ exotic (god how do I hate that they put the words "exotic and exciting" in Cat's mouth, ugh) BECAUSE they cast Oona? Like, there were interviews with Oona where she thought she wouldn't get the role because she wasn't white or an English rose and it just me a really bad feeling in my stomach that they re-wrote the role because of her race :| Just---WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALL. The story I wrote in my head is so much better /o\ Sorry, I ( ... )

LOL, TWO PARTS, I AM RIDICULOUS: opheliahyde June 7 2012, 22:48:35 UTC
I think Jeyne's feelings for him were very confusing and Robb just... clung to her because he was so lost (he was losing everyone, he was even losing the war before he even met her, he didn't save his sisters, he didn't save his father.... then his brother dies and his home burns) and adrift and the war and the crown was weighing heavily on him (honestly, I have no problem with Robb being selfish and marrying her for love in the show because THAT made sense to me---Robb has a lot of dark corners that aren't particularly noticeable because it's from Cat's POV, but he is all about making extremely selfish choices and very myopic when it comes to setting aside people he cares about compared to everyone else; he was once going to order 100 of his men to join the Watch to get Jon back, for example---it's just that they did it all wrong and made him an asshole to Cat in ways he would NEVER). And Jeyne in my head is searching for some scrap of agency, for a chance to make her own choices, even if they're stupid. I imagine being Sybell ( ... )

I liked this season of GoT (although it was flawed) and I'm still definitely looking forward to the next two seasons. Considering how much ASOS plot they have to cover, I'm hoping they feel less need to add or change plotlines. Basically, everything they need to make 2 seasons of great tv is right there on the page. And my fave characters all get big storylines.

I'm still a bit torn about the HOTU. They left so much out, but they did include some vague hints. And damn if it wasn't the pretty to look at /shallow. I think they see spots in the books where they can bring up the prophesies later, and if they do I'll be a bit more forgiving.

I'm so psyched for ASOS and relieved that they're breaking it up into two seasons because, as well as this season flowed (all things considered), I'd hate for them to rush ASOS the way some of the plot-lines this season were because SO MUCH GOES DOWN and it'd probably the meatiest of all the books and I AM EXCITED :D

I think they see spots in the books where they can bring up the prophesies later, and if they do I'll be a bit more forgiving.

yeah, I think my main gripe was definitely the absence of the prophesies because I feel that they're (or are going to be) SUPER significant for Dany's arc later one--like seeing Elia and Rhaegar and such I can understand them leaving out because of casting constraints and what have you, and I'm also content with the visuals we got because they were STUNNING (/equally shallow lol), but I really feel as if the prophesies need to be inserted at some point IMO :/

But those prophesies... Aren't they important??

IKR?! that's actually my main issue with the House of the Undying tbh. I understand them not including Rhaegar and Elia, etc etc because of the budget and casting constraints and what have you, but I feel as if the prophesies are pretty important to Dany's arc later on--I mean I know GRRM oversees what they do and they're privy to how the story will turn out, and perhaps they aren't as ESSENTIAL as I think they are, but they're certain to add a sort of urgency to things that happen later on (a la the case with Cersei and the wise woman she once spoke to).

uggh I will never understand the changes made to Robb and Cat's storyline tbh, like I TRIED to give them the benefit of a doubt, but once 2x08 came around I was just DONE lol :|

&& hehe no worries bb, rant away!! It makes me feel less lonely in my disappointment :p I honestly loved sooo many of the changes they made, and was okay with/understood the reasoning behind other, but this just O__O
