Back (in Black!)

Nov 27, 2012 15:44

After four weeks, I'm finally back home in my apartment! I came home Sunday night, despite pleas from Hannah and Josh that I stay for two more weeks, or how about fifty-two more weeks, or, as Josh begged, "nine more years, until I go to college!" Awww, kids ( Read more... )

I was just thinking about you this afternoon! I was going to bother J, ask how you were. Those pics are... wow. I like the bench. :P Sounds like the kids liked having auntie around so that's cool but I bet it's nice to be home.

♥ ♥ It's nice to sit in my comfy chair, I'll tell you that! :-P Still, I do miss the kids. I don't miss all the noise they made -- especially in the morning! -- but it feels almost too quiet here now. I really need to go food shopping though. English Muffins and canned soup only go so far. But at least I have coffee!

I can't believe you went to Joe's Shanghai and Korean BBQ and karaoke and the M&M store without me D:

HOLY SHIT. Living on the beach is not literally supposed to mean living ON THE BEACH.

Glad you're okay! *hugs*

No shit! It could have been worse. Seeing the footage (finally!) of places like the Jersey Shore and Staten Island, plus the neighborhood in Breezy Point that burnt down ... very sobering. I was very lucky I had a place to go and could stay as long as I needed to. Some people lost everything, including their houses. :( Not having heat and only minimal electricity for 9 days sucked, but we were pretty lucky to have what we did. (My dad is finally having a generator installed. My b-i-l has been badgering him to get one for like 15 years. So stubborn!)

Oh, hey - I saw about the Smutmas hotmail account. That really blows. Stupid hacker spammers. :( Ah well.

Wow, those pictures are sobering. I know it must seem to you as if you've been away from home forever, but when you consider how much damage was done, it's kinda amazing that they've gotten things semi-cleaned up as much as they have. I'm glad you had somewhere to go (and someplace that had L'Engle books, too!), and I'm equally glad you can be home again.

Did you see that they make orange-flavored M&Ms now? I'm already a huge fan of the mint and cherry ones, and the orange turn out to be pretty good, too. I wouldn't mind about ten pounds of each of those (if you'll carry them for me).

Welcome home!

I wasn't expecting to be home until at least early December, so yeah. They're going to be working on the first floor for months. Thank god for insurance!

I hadn't read those books in a while - I loaned them to my niece. She's only read A Wrinkle in Time so far. I re-read the Time Quartet and the Austin/Poly books. I don't care how old I am now, I never ever get tired of them. I still wish she'd written more.

Orange? I didn't see those. They had raspberry ones (which Josh got), and mint, and coconut, which they both got. Along with every color plain ones imaginable. :-P They even had silver, gold, and platinum. Hee! Just call me Sherpa!

The whole thing's been crazy! Was it bad down by you?

It's good to be home! :)

Lots of power outages and such, but we're far enough inland that things weren't too bad. We were lucky!
