Back (in Black!)

Nov 27, 2012 15:44

After four weeks, I'm finally back home in my apartment! I came home Sunday night, despite pleas from Hannah and Josh that I stay for two more weeks, or how about fifty-two more weeks, or, as Josh begged, "nine more years, until I go to college!" Awww, kids ( Read more... )

Oh, WELCOME HOME!!!!! Holy shit, that's some displaced beach. Wow. You have coffee and vodka and a bench. All set. So glad you're safe and your home is back in business AND that you got all that time with the kidlets. ♥

♥ ♥ The 'bear' necessities of life! :-P I still feel like I lost a whole month, which I sort of did in a way, but things are slowly getting back to normal. The kids have been texting me every day asking when I'm coming back. :-P

You are like a proper refugee! Did you pull a handcart behind you when you came back to your two bottles of vodka?

I'm glad your back and well. Four weeks, wow. It's so easy to forget (and indeed I have) that just because the hurricane is no longer on the news, it doesn't mean that everything's back to normal. I'm amazed so many utility poles are still standing. And those benches are suspiciously robust: they may be misplaced, but they're not broken. What are they made of? Adamantium?

Well, a more privileged one than the norm at any rate. Handcart? I had a full-sized shopping cart and three suitcases! :-P

Hee! Maybe that or vibranium! I should go out and take some after-after pics - see what's going on by the beach. I've been a bit busy this week, also lazy, plus it's cold out.

Oh hey - how did your dinner go?

Oooh, a stylish urbanite refugee! :-P I'm sorry your home has been so badly affected, but you seem to take it in your stride - and it does make for a good anecdote...

Dinner went well. This has (and still is) a week of having-dinner&drinks-with-men-I-don't-date but might have had a fling with at some point. It's most amusing.

Those pictures are so amazing, in a bad way. I'm glad your inconvenience is minimal in the grand scheme of things I can only imagine how difficult this has been for everyone.

Jealous of your planetarium trip. I'll have to see if we have a local one to take the Sprog to see. I remember thinking they were amazing as a kid.

It was inconvenient, but I was really lucky, and my inconveniences pale in comparison to so many other people. But it's good to be home! :)

I love the planetarium! When I was in elementary school, we used to go to the local one here on Long Island every year for a field trip. It was always my favorite trip and is a large part of why I'm such an astronomy/space geek! Hee! You should definitely look into it!

On another note, I just saw your post from a couple weeks ago (as I'm still futilely trying to catch up on a month of internets!) and well ... I don't quite know what to say, so I'm just going to send you a gazillion *HUGS* and ♥ ♥!
