YAY, Double Happiness fic! So good, with Jade struggling to reach but not surrender to her dad, and Pearl - the bit with Pearl is great, Jade's caution, knowing Pearl might feel kind of abandoned, a little resentful that her big sister who she clearly adores has gone off on her own.

And then Mark, being his lovable dork self, and Pearl make friends - and terrible pun-jokes. Hee!

We might as well have all been ghosts or clouds.

I really like this bit - instead of "I" it's now "we." She might be a ghost or a cloud, but at least she's not alone being a ghost. Her new world is solidifying. :)

Oh, yay! Thanks!! And yes, it was all about her creating her new world and realising she doesn't have to be alone despite being cut adrift, so I'm very glad that came across. :-D

This is so very lovely. Light as air and so very real, that sense of lostness. I love how she is trying to anchor herself, not use someone else. And the gentle humour is wonderful. &hearts

This was beautiful, truly lovely. You didn't just get the character's voices right, but you managed to capture the film's tone and even its cinematic themes - and managed all of that with an elegant minimalist touch. Wow, it makes me want to see the film again.

This is really evocative of the pace and language of the film, which I'd seen and loved back before I knew who any of the stars were, and then got for Christmas last year because I needed to watch it again and see Sandra Oh and CKR when they were reputation-free. This story gets the falling-through-space feeling of Jade's life on the nose.

Julia, dandy, in other words.

This is awesome. ♥ *hugs Jade* (I think you got her voice DEAD ON. I think I was actually hearing Sandra Oh read this.)
