Superbowl Madness

Feb 06, 2005 03:05

Managed to get down to the Landing (is that the same thing as the Riverwalk? I'm so confused) earlier today to check out the face that Jacksonville is presenting to the world. I wanted to go last night after work, but I ordered some pizza instead. Also Rommel didn't answer his cell when I called him, but he called back this morning and said they ( Read more... )

1,143 words. Take that, Bill!

P.S. It really was a good idea.

That sounds like a good time. I'm almost disappointed I didn't go down there yesterday, but not quite. I didn't really have anyone to go with anyway. (That is not a 'poor me' statement! :))
I too have a huge appreciation of 'Don't Stop till You Get Enough'! That whole album, actually.

I've been to Festival International! That was a fun time. Incidentally, do you know if Jacksonville has anything like that? Is there a Shakespeare Festival anywhere or a Renaissance Festival; anything?

Not as far as I know...really the only festivals I've heard about around here were some sort of jazz festival and some sort of crawfish festival...I think. I'm very interested in the crawfish one.

Yet another reason to miss Lafayette, heh.

blues fest as well.. opening of the beaches.. the beach really has the most "artsy festival" stuff..

i dont think we have a ren fest, but every sunday the SCA people hang out in riverside park - it's almost the same thing.

i have learned something this day.

how to spell "hock."

in return for the favour you have granted to me, i offer this nugget of wisdom in return:

a suitable answer to "you are all sinners" (while not as funny as yours) is "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" this, of course, in reference to a passage i'm sure you have heard about (the prostitute they brought to him), heh. perhaps there is some happy medium... let he who is without sin not attend the super bowl? dunno. that just does not seem very funny.

Yeah, I thought about that, but a Biblical response invites an actual Biblical debate, which I wasn't interested in having. Something funny and concise works better, I think. Like, "Even the Devil can quote Scripture to suit his needs!"

Gets 'em every time.

so invite the debate. give him one more answer. and when he stops for your next answer, you punch him in the throat.

gets 'em every time.

will you go to hell for doing that? i do not think so.

I always forget about the "punch them in the throat" counterargument.

Wow, you've never been Downtown? How long have you been here?

We'll have to meet up sometime and I'll give you a tour. We'll take Becky, too. Do you remember where the church was? There are quite a few...

Glad you enjoyed it. It was crazy packed Downtown on Friday night. I didn't go Saturday night, and last night I biked around at the start of the game. Vendors closed up pretty quickly.

Driving to work this morning, I noticed the cruise ship in front of the Adam's Mark was already gone.

By the way, your writing is fantastic. I give you an A+, mostly because you don't end your sentences with prepositions. :) I swoon at good grammar usage. *swoon*

Alright, score! A girl who swoons at my writing!

Yeah, that was my first downtown trip. I've been in Jax since the end of July, but my apartment and job are both in Southside (off of Baymeadows), and I'd never really had cause to head down thataway. Becky invited me to the ArtWalk in March, so that's the next time I figured I'd be down there.

I would love to get a tour of the area, thanks so much for offering! Coordinating a time with Becky will be the difficult part, I think. Unfortunately I don't remember where the church was; I wasn't paying attention to street names as we wove around. But I think it would be fun trying to find it again. =)

March ArtWalk? Yay, that's because I'm showing some photos then. :) I'm thinking of having a housewarming party after the Art Walk, since everybody will be so close. We shall see.

It's the first Wednesday of March, correct? Going to have to get creative with my work schedule...
