Quiet Desperation
Walking down the street towards my flat, I heard this strange wailing noise, like a child moaning, long and low, repeatedly. I could hear it despite my headphones. I have always hated being asked for cigarettes (I recently started smoking again, by the by). One of the main reasons I never wanted to start was because I knew I would be hit up by assholes on the street, asking for smokes. October will be a crazy month
It's been more than three years, but I will finally be leaving Jacksonville soon. After lots of fits and starts and more than one wrench in the works, Dana and I will be moving to my hometown in Louisiana at the beginning of October. Driving up 95 this morning, I had this feeling that I was in Portland again. I looked at the sky and realized that it was because there was a dark, roiling layer of clouds gathering at the horizon, with pristine, clear skies above that.
