Why am I not allowed to injure Jim Kirk? Because it comes back to bite me.

I helped caera1996 write/beta "No Good Deed", in which Jim Kirk falls off the roof and dislocates his shoulder ( Read more... )

Huh... so I can blame the Stitch plushie for that? LOL... don't worry, it worked out in the end.

And really, things are working out. Hell, I guess I'm glad I didn't go for the fire department this year. I wouldn't be able to try for it right now anyway.

Yep, which is why it's just fine by me!

OMG. I feel like I should apologize.

Thank God your part was relatively small, and you weren't on a roof!

Don't apologize! Seriously, this shit just seems to happen to me. Sad irony, really. And yes, I should avoid the roof right now...

Oh no! I'm glad you went to see the doctor, though. I don't know how you walked around with a separated shoulder. *hugs gently* Recover soon!

Never mind walking around... try lifting luggage at the airport. I did two business trips since the accident, AND helped run security for Naka-Kon.

All kinds of empathy, honey. Three shoulder reconstructions while at USMA is what eventually forced me to resign. Twenty-five years (or so) later, there are still a goodly number of times every year when it's subluxed or not quite sitting right. I totally understand walking around for weeks, doing lots of strenuous stuff, all feeling not quite *right* but not specifically *injured.*

In general, weightlifting helps a lot, because the muscles get strong enough to stabilize the joint. I hope you've got excellent PT, lots of ice, and a relationship with a chiropractor...or whatever combo does you the most good!
