But Miyabi's back, and she wouldn't want to give her crew the impression she's moping (or her mother, for that matter). And honestly, Nami's feeling a little stir crazy. And fidgety

Ah, of course. A favor. [He wonders how many favors this day will be reaping her.]

[The dog looks up at her soulfully, giving her a whine before panting and wagging his tail some more. He's a good dog. :'|]

Not mine, actually. He belongs to Minato-nii and Minako-nee, if you know them. His name is Koromaru.

[Many. Though Nami doesn't often end up collecting.]

Nope. Seen them around on the journals, though. [Well all right, good dog. Nami will scritch you behind the ears.]

[... Koromaru seems to enjoy the petting very much. Some brightly colored music notes pop out of his head.]

[Loki smiles as he watches. Dogs are so cute. After a moment, he unrolls the map given to him and scans it.] This is a well-charted map.

I've been making them since I was ten. I'd hope so. Hopefully you'll get some use out of it.

So you're a truly seasoned cartographer. Well, lucky for us. [He rolls it back up.]

It should come in handy if I ever get a case, but this village is more peaceful than I thought it would be.

A case? What kind of case?

A mystery case. I'm a detective. [There's a sign for his agency outside the house, but people tend to ignore it since it's pretty low-key. Doesn't bother him either way, though.]

Ah, really? [Nope, Nami didn't notice it. She gives him a more curious look. Just how old are you, anyway?] I guess not much call for it in Luceti, but I do remember some things that could have used a detective. Maybe you should try advertising on the journals? Unless you did that already.

I'm only interested in certain cases, so I haven't advertised. Otherwise, I'd be getting people with lost pets and personal items. [He'll do it if he needs to make a quick buck, but thank you Luceti for not making that a concern anymore.]

Out of curiosity, what kind of things could have used a detective?

Well, there was a murder not so long ago, though nobody knows who the killer was. And ages ago, we had a thief who stole some pretty important things from people. A friend asked me to look into that, but I'm not much of a detective.

A murder, hm? That's a serious crime. [Maybe he should keep more of an ear out for these things. The cases always came to him in the past, but be might need to be more proactive here.] Who was the victim?

I can't remember her name. I think her father reported it on the journals, though. [She'd skimmed past the entry when catching up on her lost month.] But is it worth looking into? Not that a murder isn't serious, but the general attitude of the village is... kind of apathetic at best on a lot of these things.

I see why. When you know you'll see the deceased again in a week, death becomes cheap. [That's how he sees it, anyway. In most cases.]

Either way, disagreements happen. As long as it doesn't become a persistent problem, there isn't much reason for me to butt in.

[There's a minute flinch at that first part, but Nami smiles anyway, after a moment.]

Yeah, pretty much.

What... kind of cases do you normally solve?

[... Did he imagine that? He doesn't pursue the subject, but at least there's Koromaru, who takes a moment to try and lick her hand and sniff about.]

Unusual cases. Normal ones don't interest me. Beyond being a detective, my job is the deal with the festering evil in human hearts.
