I'm puzzled as to why Dumbledore, who allows psychotic, sadistic personnel to abuse the children, who permits dangerous creatures to roam the grounds, and who hires the stupendously incompetent Hagrid as a teacher is such a stickler for permission slips to visit Hogsmeade. What could possibly happen to the children in the village (in broad daylight no less) that could possibly be worse than the dangers they face daily inside the school grounds?

That poor kitten! How can they do something like that! That cruelty towards felines makes me want to present an abbreviated example of something that doesn't justify it...what am I thinking of...right on the tip of my tongue...
Did you know Oliver Wood was played by Sean Biggerstaff in the films? Cue lots of sniggering.
You probably don't give a damn, but in the tea drinking scene I always find it interesting that Snape backs out from the room like he's afraid Lupin will attack him even though he's still a human. He wants to make sure Lupin drinks the potion, but Lupin won't touch it before Snape is out of the room. I've seen some assay suggesting Lupin does that because he knows Snape is scared and he's a sadistic bastard. Personally, I think he didn't feel like giving Snape the satisfaction of seeing him drink a potion that tastes like shit.
*still laughing* I honestly never picked up on the, err, homoeroticism of the Snape/Lupin interaction in that scene. Mainly because I was too busy concentrating on Lupin (mmm, Lupin) but whatever. It DOES sound... odd. :p
It probably won't help much when I say that all the 'filler' will make sense and turn out to have had a point in the end, will it?

Unless Sirius cleverly disguised himself as Crookshanks, twenty-one sundaes, and Harry's Aunt Marge, then no, it won't help at all.
