Apparently, the airline I am coming home on, Qantas, their engineers have been striking recently causing problems with Domestic flight cancellations and things, and a few delays for interantional flights. Did I book all that time off work for nothing? Or is it possible that you'll still be getting back on the 23rd? lol..

Surely they have to reimburse you for the ticket somehow?!? Isn't it like illegal not to!?!?! They could possibly be leaving people stranded and that's not very nice!!!! Do you have travellers insurance?? Maybe that comes into play in these types of situations... I'd ring Qantas and your travellers insurance people (if you have it) before doing anything about purchasing a ticket from another company.
