I can't beleive the popularity that so-called 'reality shows' get, in particular Survivor and American Idol (which, I'm sorry, they're as scripted as any other TV show

Jay Leno didn't want to leave THE TONIGHT SHOW. His new hour-long show is NBC's way of keeping him around so that he doesn't jump ship and go to another network. Here's the situation

Leno got *far* better than he deserved as far as I'm concerned.
But then again I'm a huge Survivor fan. And no, I think it's more that with the switch to casting rather than a pure open call that there have been more people wanting to "create storylines" in more obvious ways than there have before.
After production gets finished with it, creating characters from what they are given, things look more scripted than they actually are. The same way the story of you taking your dog for a walk would look if it was handled by editors. Just straight forward walking with none of the detours your actual walk took.)
Hey, my dogs can be entertaining....usually very dumbass things that make me realize my cats are intelligent geniuses intent to conquer the planet...but choose not to...yet.
IMO putting Survivor and the Amazing Race in with the crap that tends to be "reality shows" is throwing out the baby with the bath water. Some seasons are better than others, and mactors in general tend to get on my nerves but those two are some well crafted shows.
100% agreed on reality TV. It has got to be the most mind-numbing drivel ever to appear. Whenever my sister talks about what ridiculous reality TV show she's watching, I tell her there is no way we could be related.
I'm not excited about Smallville returning. He's out of high school, out of college, working at the Planet, yet he's STILL not becoming Superman? This show lost its way years ago and there is no salvaging it. At this rate, Clark will become Superman as part of a mid-life crisis.
I'm watching Smallville for the same reasons I read every crappy 90's comic I ever did....I want to see how it ends, and am eternally hopeful it will end well.
I'm watching it for the same reason, and why this show keeps getting renewed even though it sinks lower and lower when Angel was shitcanned while at the top of its game is one of those eternal mysteries.
