the optical counter wasn't too bad. in fact, it worked almost 99% of the time. it's only problem was when there were balls still sitting in the corral. if they crossed the sensors line of vision again, they were counted again. trust me, i got the lowdown on those sensors. never again doing real time scoring as a volunteer. so please develop a better system.
I already went up to Skycraft today and have thought of a few ideas. The simplest of course would be to develop a system to have 4 people on the corners count by hand with a switch connected to a computer and then use the same optical gate FIRST used for the 3-pointer to count. I have another interesting idea for an automatic counter that could allow the use of limit switches, but I'm working on that one still. We'll see what I come up with by the end of tonight/tommorow.
Either way, right now I'm planning on trying to develop something that people could make for easy/cheap and distribute the software to offseasons that would want to use it. It may not be the best thing ever, but it can do the trick (because this year's game without realtime is absolutly horrid for the audience).
