fic: There and never back again -- Summer of Sam Love exchange

Aug 13, 2011 19:05

A/N: This was written for this year's summer_sam_love  - exchange for beamin_sunshine . Her prompt can be found at the end of the story. I hope this comes close to what you wanted for the prompt, I did the best I could, even though it might have turned out a little darker than I had planned originally. Have fun reading! :)

I really enjoyed this. I haven't given much thought to how Sam would feel about his time spent with Adam, and I found this really insightful. And saaad. Poor Sam!!

Yes, poor Sam, I should have given him some sort of comfort at the end, but it just wouldn't work. I almost feel bad about it. *grins* Okay, maybe not so much.... ;)

Thank you SO much!

Adam kept talking like Dean, I had to re-write so much of what he said, it was starting to get on my nerves... ;)

Thank you so much, I'm very happy you liked it!

You know, looking at your avatar makes me feel bad for putting Sam through this story... Really, really bad...

But still, THANK YOU, I'm glad you liked it!

This makes my heart ache, but in such a bittersweet, desired way. It was a twist that Adam's anger at Castiel is actually Sam's, for Castiel being unable to rescue Adam before it was too late, and that Adam's spirit embodied all of Sam's feelings, his way of holding onto him. I hate how, in the show, Adam's existence is pretty much ignored. He doesn't even seem worthy enough, despite being an innocent who was dragged into their tragedy, to be mourned, though the Winchesters are constantly chanting 'family is everything'. I can easily see the bond forged between Sam and his little brother in Hell, because they were together for centuries longer than Sam has ever known Dean, and I hope the Sam of S7, who actually remembers, will do something to acknowledge Adam. This was also so heartbreaking and melancholy, while being lovely, so kudos for writing it. ♥

You know, looking back at how Sam and Dean treat "family" over the seasons... (or how the writers have them treat family I guess I should say) a lot of what we see doesn't make sense. I mean, look at what Sam and Dean learn when they're in heaven, both John and Mary are supposed to be up there but they haven't been seen and the boys never even try to find out what that means exactly. Sam getting his soul back and feeling bad about what he did when he was soulless but COMPLETELY ignoring that he pulled Adam/Mike down into the Cage with him and Lucifer... That is so OOC it hurts. I know they (the writers) probably want to save some issues for the next season, but the way they have handled things like that in the last seasons doesn't give me much hope, IF it will be addressed it will probably just be another plot device. Just like Adam's whole existence seems to be if you ask me.

Anyways, I'm glad you liked the direction the story took!!! Thank you so much! :)

OMG, this really tore my heart out. Poor Sammy... not able to let go. It played out some true to character. :)

I think not being able to let go of guilt is one of Sam's biggest "flaws", I really wanted to end this story on a hopeful note, most of all with some comfort for Sam in one form or the other, but he just wouldn't let me.

I'm glad you liked it, thank you so much! :)
