I wish this were in the ep. I wish Dean could GET this. That Sam's not trying to hurt him, that Sam's just trying to do SOMETHING. It's messed up, but Sam's just messed up, and has been since Dean died (or even before). I so wish he could come to those realizations.
Yes, you are so right about this, Dean needs to know why Sam did what he did. I don't think he ever will cause now it was all just a selfish thing Sam did and stuff like that. That's why I think that, more than anything else, EK needs to realize what his own series is about and HE needs a little insight into his own character.
Thank you so much, I am SO glad you liked it, I wasn't really sure at first if what I wanted to say was going to get across cause it is kind of a very strange setting.
The look on Dean's face during that scene haunted me the entire week between When the Levees Break and Lucifer Rising. Thank you so much for writing this.
To be honest, it wasn't so much the look on Dean's face but the way he was staring off into space when Bobby was talking to him that got me, couldn't forget that scene either.
You had two thumbs up before I even started reading - the banner and the title are both awesome.
As for the story itself, wonderful illustration of all the reasons Dean loves his brother, his fears for what he's becoming and his deep-seated terror that he can't stop it.
Loved your mix of poignant memories with fun moments because, Heaven and Hell notwithstanding, fun is part of who the brothers really are. (Loved the horn blast and Sam toppling off the car!)
Stylistically, it was beautiful and emotionally, really packed a punch. I knew I wanted more from that one brief but powerful moment in the show, and this more than fills the bill.
I had the banner done loooong before I started writing the story and the younger Sam on those pictures was what kept me going.
Thank you for giving me the chance to get a little closer to Dean again, after season 4 I really couldn't stand his character and I didn't think I could ever write something with him in it again. At first I was thinking about writing a flashback-story, where one flashback would kind of lead into another, but, well, then Sam had other plans and the boys really needed to talk after that episode and, the panic room is famous for showing you things you need to hear, even if it's only in your thoughts and I changed my concept.
I am sooo happy you liked that and it was such a great prompt, so thank you for that opportunity.

An ingenious idea, and beautifully executed. The ending was just perfect.
