I know this isn't really a political community... but i love politics and the political comms don't really care about the view of military spouses.

I know he likes to make his case that he cares about dependents. But I had NEVER heard the story behind ( Read more... )

Did not see the ad (don't watch Army Wives). I'm voting for Obama anyway. So McCain was a womanizer. Is that something new in Washington? lol It just goes to show you, that everyone is not as squeaky clean as you want them to be.

lol, i guess that's true. I just have always thought pretty highly of McCain, and to see that and the way that he has run to the right since the campaign started... i guess it has just caught me off guard.

I guess it was silly of me to believe a politician in the first place though. ;)

Yeah, but reading the article it seems as if they are okay (Carol and McCain) with the arrangement: 'you do this for me and I'll do this for you' kind of thing. Yeah, it sucks what happened to their marriage, but she's getting her medical care for free. It doesn't make it right, but... People can talk down on McCain for trading his wife in for a newer model, but really, it happens, and to people we would never think of. Remember, BOTH of them changed, physically and mentally.

I was already leaning towards Obama - but as a disabled woman (and veteran) I am appalled by that. It is the stuff of my nightmares, I always feared I'd be less attractive just because I use a cane.

I'm sure a lot of women are afraid of that. But just know that the men who are REALLY big jerks that would leave like that are few and far between. I've seen you in a lot of comms and you seem like an amazing person. You won't ever have to worry about that happening.

Were you injured while in the military or afterwards? Just curious. If that's too personal, just disregard.

*smiles* thank you. I've gotten me a good one right now, although he's certainly trying to get me to push my knee as far as I can hehe.

I was injured in the military, line of duty. Tore my patellar ligament, had to have it repaired and 'released' (lengthed essentially). Had a bad recovery, 5 years later and still on a cane.

Did anyone else notice that McCain was obviously and I mean OBVIOUSLY reading his lines from a cue card?

And as a side note that has nothing to do with politics: Last nights episode made me even more excited for this season.

I was like how sad. The man can't even come up with something to say about our troops from his heart, I mean he did go through this all himself. He has to read a cue card. *rolls eyes* And he wants to be Chief.

I DID! First thing I noticed.
I am a McCain supporter but he had no sympathy in his monotoned "speech".

I didn't like John McCain before and I like him less now. What a horrible thing to do to someone who truly needed support and love.

People seem to be blinded by the fact that he was a POW and not paying any attention at all to the rest of his platform, which, to me, seems a lot like the status quo. I think most Americans are tired of the status quo.

My husband and I are both voting for Obama. A lot of people assume because he is in the military he'll be voting for McCain. It's a common assumption, but a very, very incorrect assumption. Neither of us like what Bush did to this country and we don't want 4 more years of nearly the same thing.
