Disappointment

My boyfriend had only been calling on Sundays from basic. I forgot my cell phone for the first time since he's been gone this afternoon for all of an hour. Guess what I found when I came back home? 2 missed calls from him and a voice mail telling me how he was disappointed we couldn't talk. I cried a lot, even though it's probably not a big deal to

I almost didn't answer the first call from my boyfriend because I'm so used to ignoring strange numbers. (When I used to answer all calls, I got some disgusting calls, like a guy who was trying to call his girlfriend, called me instead, and then wanted to...hook up with me. In other less appropriate words. I was like "um, how about no?")

it seems, (at least for me) I miss that ONE phone call, when I'm outside or away from it for a minute or less- outside checking the mail, walking the dog, etc.
At least he gets to call every Sunday though. I barely get that. My guy's been in basic now for 5 weeks and he's been able to call twice.

This very thing happened with me and my ex - this was before I had a cell phone years ago and I would wait around the house almost all the time to the point it was unhealthy in case I got his call. I too could kind of guess when his call would come because it was usually Sundays too - so when I did miss a call at a more random time because I would just walk down the long driveway to check my mail - it would be the worst feeling in the world to miss that call. He always sounded sad though. Sad when I answered, sad when I didn't. Basic is rough! I hope he calls again soon!!!!

Thank you! I can't wait until basic is over. It will be amazing when we can talk more frequently, and after we figure out if he has to go to fat camp or not (he's not doing so hot on his PT -- the Army isn't exactly meant for wee bookworm geeks who lived a sedentary life until a month before they started basic), I'll begin counting down until he'll get leave after AIT. We're both hoping he can see me for my birthday on New Year's Eve. :)
