Two of them I've read before: Geek Love and The God of Small Things. But it was interesting to read them back to back. They're both great novels, pleasures to read and (in very different ways) really smart and insightful

for being able to talk Chaucer's Canterbury Tales with a bachelor party who spent most of the night drinking at my bar. And that coming right on the heels of me making a Chaucer-related comment on FB. Weird? Maybe. But the money still counts

last night, just before my inaugural 2010 mardi gras shift, i saw my first ever bit of a carnival parade with a strawberry abita--saved all the way from last year-- in tow. (abita is a (semi)local beer and the strawberry sort is a seasonal production that only happens in the spring of each year.) and i was amazed how much i love this place. again.
