A successful day - apart from the stingaree news obviously

So - did crocodile hunter really die?
I heard his heart got pierced by a stingaree and he pulled it out by himself... then he died because it was poisened.
A grand way to die for such a person, isn't it?

And I donated half a litre of blood this morning. Can this please be acknowledged? Because...
...I had to get up at 8 a.m.
...I hate needles ( Read more... )

You call it a stingaree! That's adorable. We say stingray, is it pronounced the same?

The Great Gatsby is amazing. You should definitely but it. I have multiple copies because Karina got me a really old edition of it in addition to my school copy. [Funny how edition and addition sound the same but mean different things, the english language is confusing]

Oh my god, I HATE giving blood. You should get a medal. I can't do it. The one time i tried, they pricked me with the stapler and started pumping me but then the kid next to me started saying he didn't feel well and they ignored him! So he passed out and I left before they could take anything from me. It was on my birthday, I was trying to be a good citizen but I just can't. So you get a high five from me.

Oh, that sucks that Ela got rejected. Why? Does she not have good grades?

Would you take the bus or train to campus and live at home, or would you live at the university? Are Sandy and Richie both going there?

Don't worry about responding to my novel email right away. I

It's actually spelled pandAmonium.

Because the root word is panda.

Ok, Great Gatsby's on my list.
Yeah, Ela "only" has 2.9... which is on the verge of "satisfactory" - you don't pass Abitur below 4.0 I believe (it counts like this: 1.0 is the absolutely best, then 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc...).
No, Sandy is going to University in Kiel, which is like an hour away from Hamburg and originally she planned on staying living here in Hamburg for the first year and commuting there and then move up to Kiel after that year but she found out that the train ticket would cost more than a room in Kiel so... now it has to be really quick, she's searching for a room so desperatly (??)... and she's not taking it well, the all too sudden change. And I don't want her to be gone.
Richie got rejected, too and tries to get in for summer semester... and he'll go to whatever University will have him. In whatever city... It's gonna be tough.
I'll live at home - it is only like half an hour with the bus and I only have to change busses once...
Ok, gotta run - I'm off to Jannik's.
Love, K.

that's funny, because our system works with 4.0 as the best, then 2.5 is the average halfway point and 1.0 and below are the worst.

That's weird... why is it that way?
Also about the stingray: I had looked it up in the dictionary and it said stingaree as well as stingray... so is stingaree incorrect? In German it's Stachelrochen... try and pronounce that :)

it works that way because each class is worth 4 points. An A is 4 points, a B is 3 points, a C is 2 points, a D is 1 point and an F is no points. So you add up all your grade points and divide by the number of classes you took, and that is your grade point average, or GPA.

so in example, if i take 4 classes and get an A in all of them, that is 16 divided by 4, which is 4. So therefore, 4 is the best.
