Can't say I've heard of Gorey (sorry!) but I've always loved Quentin Blake's work, so I get the style you were aiming for with your art here. Voldemort is fabulously creepy, and Hermione is so warm and joyful here (bless you for putting in her large front teeth!)

As for the modelling thing, I always thought the point of models looking "unique" rather than attractive was to - as you said - draw attention to the clothes. IMHO this label is taking the right approach with their choice of models. The pretty ones (like Victoria's Secret girls) start to all look the same after a while. But hey, I've always been a fan of sharp features and such, so maybe I'm not the one to ask :D

It's cool because that sketchy, anatomically incorrect style is...their style. I was looking at some other drawings that Gorey did and they're beautifully realistic and everything. Love love love! ^__^

Haha! Anthro's marketing team is terribly smart! but Idk. When I see an attractive model wearing something pretty I want to buy it more than if it's a ...not...attractive one. LOL am I shallow or what? I do agree with you on the Victoria Secret thing. They're all starting to look alike but it sells. I am also enjoying seeing faces like Jessica Stam and Lily Donaldson in there now. :)

Obviously people are going to have differing opinions on what maketh an attractive model, so I totally get that you respond favourably to a particular look.

Victoria's Secret is marketed at men - sounds ridiculous, but the fact that women buy and wear the lingerie is probably a distant second thought to the marketing people when they consider who to put in their runway show/catalogue. There's a sense of fun and flirtatiousness to Adriana Lima and co, so women are not turned off by them, but targeting men to then sell to the women has been working for them for years now!

Jessica and Lily still have that uniqueness about them, despite both being pretty. Not sure if that makes sense, but Gemma Ward is similar, I think.

Eastern European models tend to look very different to American/Western models, you'll find. They're all, however, terribly thin which is the only constant, unfortunately :(

OMG. Gemma Ward is my ultimate favorite model ever. I really liked the fashion seasons of 2003-2006. They had a lot of interesting looking models come out. Lily Cole, Freja, Sasha Pivovarova. I'm not averse to different. I LOVE the odd and unique. But I find that there's still a common denominator of beauty. Their proportions I guess. I'm not sure.

Agree with you on the easter european models. I like that they bring the "feeling of okayness" to be fair after how many seasons of Gisele and her Brazilian buddies with their tanned beautiful bodies. haha

I feel like the weight issue is...getting better...for now. I remember a few years back there was controversy over that one model's drastic weight loss(I think she won that Ford Models contest?) and how one model died due to anorexia. I was thinking about that when I watched Louis Vuitton's fall/winter show this year. Lots of different shapes(as far as models go), especially with an Adriana that just gave birth.
