no paczki in california!

I just now realized that today is Fat Tuesday. I didn't realized that Paczki Day wouldn't be celebrated in Los Angeles! Of course, it makes sense now that I think about it - LA County doesn't exactly have tons of Polish Catholics. My question is - Will Krispy Kreme serve as an adequate replacement for paczki?

Apparently there aren't any Polish Catholics in The Villages either. :o( I went to 6 different grocery stores with no luck..

So instead I bought a tiny little single serving Boston Cream cake.

I've heard that Florida is the only place outside of Detroit that celebrates Paczki Day. It's supposed to be all the retired Detroiters. Maybe the Villages are short on Polish retirees.

Boston Cream Cake. Yum. :)

I'm shocked that KK doesn't HAVE Paczki's!!!
Actually I was a little surprised they celebrate it here in AZ *L*
Not sure why, I guess I'm used to Hamtramack and the total polishness ;-p

Krispy Kreme is a poor imitation of the paczki. It'll have to do for today...

Me, I have been all up and down the west coast and not seen a paczki. Or eaten one, for that matter. But I think, should I meet one, I would like it. Any sweet that is rather like a jelly doughnut is a friend of mine.

Oh - you would like it and you'd rue the day you met it (all 2000 glorious calories of a full-grown paczki). Thankfully, this only happens once a year. :)
