Today I had one of those days that remind me why I love my job, and why I really, truly believe in the mission of the institution where I work. Work has been full of pressure and deadlines and stress all summer, and coming home feeling energized and happy about what I accomplished today makes a lovely change.

Today I am reminding myself (over and over) that everything happens. Not necessarily for a reason; just...everything happens.

Or put another way: things often don't work out the way I plan, but they always work out.

I think broccoli is my new favorite food. I am serious! Steamed broccoli, with just a little bit of salt equals taste bud heaven! I have also recently started putting broccoli on our veggie (GF) pizza. I don't know why I didn't think of that before, but wow. YUM.

You guys can still have all my brussel sprouts, though.

there is an absolutely HUGE spider that's been living on my office window for the past few days. on the outside, i mean. i probably would be less calm and fascinated if it was actually inside the office with me. but it's a seriously huge spider. the body alone is somewhere between the size of a dime and a penny, so that should give you an idea ( Read more... )

things i should do this afternoon:
* laundry
* vacuum
* mop

things i am doing instead:
* watching the wire
* drinking a blue moon
* knitting a sock

also, there is a strong possibility that i will take a nap.

i'm a little embarrassed by how much i can relate to this comic strip.

especially since i spent a good deal of yesterday afternoon with a glass of wine and a new book by a favorite author.

yesterday was just an amazing day.
