iPod Help

May 11, 2005 12:52

You all know the story of our poor computer and its fried logic board. I just downloaded ell*jay, the LJ post widget and am typing on that. We'll see how it works.

In any event, there's a ton of music on our iPod that avoided the HP meltdown. What software would you recommend to get the music back onto our hard drive?

Cheers,

Reid

something tells me, unfortunately, that you may not be able to get it from ipod to computer (i don't think itunes will let you do that)..though if you check out www.sourceforge.net maybe you'll find some open source software that someone wrote to do exactly that.

good luck!

I believe you can authorize your new mac to play the songs on the iPod - don't remember off hand. There's a handy little thing called the "missing manual" by david pogue and I think it might be new enough to help you out.

I think the hard drive is ok. Alan said he'd be able to get stuff off of it. I was thinking maybe to get one of those external drive casings and doing the fire wire thing.
