translation of a statement about the nature of art meant to cheer on victims of the Tohoku quake

This will probably be edited as I get more help translating some of the stuff I couldn't figure out well.

There have been quite a lot of art submitted at Pixiv with things like "Hang in there, Japan!!" included in them. Some of them are great to see, but others, it feels like it's bordering on being out-right insensitive. I realized I wasn't the ( Read more... )

You did a good job in translating!:DDD
((I was too lazy))
I drew a lot to vent on the tsunami and all the bad things happening in Japan. My family..I haven't gotten a word from them in 3 to 4 days..I'm so worried I can't function right...
But I do realize my feelings aren't the same as others....so I don't post it.Maybe to my personal blog...but that's it.((Only because it is friend locked.))

Pixiv has a tag "No condolence, only money". A fellow student (I study Japanese Studies) wrote on her fb "I don't care if you pray in five languages, make a zillion cranes, make photos of thirty trillion candles or join some stupid fb-group. JUST DONATE. It's the only thing that really helps ( ... )

being japanese and being in tokyo when the earthquake hit and the powerplant being in big trouble,I have mixed feelings about the whole matter. On some level seening fanart gives me a warm sense of hope that my nation will get through this and once again rise to be the Japan everyone knows on another bit I cant help but wonder what good will the art do? It sure cannot support the people in fukushima.

I am lucky, yes in Tokyo there is lack of power and we do get power outage and the memory of huddling in an open carpark while buildings and powerpoles shook severely around me and my coworkers will not go away but I have a roof over my head and food supplies aren't so bad.

What Japan really need now is donations to help those in fukushima, not fanart. I can understand this girl rage. I also thank all the nations especially America for doing everything in their power to help my nation in this time of need.

Thanks for posting this. I've been vaguely uncomfortable with all the art going around on DA and similar sites. I know that art is an outlet, and that maybe it's all a person can do if they are unable to donate, but... this disaster JUST HAPPENED. It's too much to hope that everyone keeps some kind of sensitivity with how they look at this, but maybe this will help some people give a more critical eye to their art and what they draw. Again, thanks for posting. Hetalia is always bound to be awkward in times like these...
