Tired, aggravated, and annoyed, Ino slumped down in a random hallway and started to cry. Her knees were tucked under her chin, her long, unbound hair brushing the dirty floor. The empty hallway echoed her sobs back to her. She wanted her dad, someone-- ANYONE-- to come save her.
Sniffing, she looked up with watery eyes at the accented voice. It was a boy, someone she didn't know but--
BIG DOG.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Kiba crouched in front of her, eyebrows pulling together in sudden worry. "Oi...Ino, what's the matter?" Christ on a cracker, how the fuck did you deal with frightened girls screaming at you? He didn't know. His first instinct for everything these days seemed to be just to kill whatever was making the fuss. Akamaru's ears flattened dejectedly to his skull and he sank onto his belly, whining in confusion. Petting him soothingly, Kiba reached a careful hand out towards Ino. "Hey, hey. It's just Akamaru. You're okay. Hmmm?"

"I'm lost," she said simply. "I can't find anyone."
Later, Ino would reflect that is is probably the story of her life.
At least this boy was cute, Ino thought. He was kind of like a prince in... not so shining armor coming to rescue her! That was nice. Her dad told her not to go off with strange guys but this one knew her name and didn't seem so bad.

For some reason, seeing Ino like this made him sad. It wasn't nice to see someone ripped out of the picture you had of them in your mind. Crying girls also brought back memories from another life, and thoughts like that didn't quite fit inside his head any more. Kiba didn't like it.
He stood carefully, bending over a little to keep his hold on her hand. "Want me to take you somewhere?"

"I want to go home. I don't like it here."
This boy was nice but he still didn't compare to her dad, not by a LONG shot. Her dad bought her things and took her places and-- where was he, anyway?
"Do you know where my dad is?"
