Some day soon, I must create and endure a Winamp playlist of all my "current music" LJ post accompaniments from over the years. I suspect "eclectic" may not even begin to cover it...
I can't admit to thinking of you every night before bed, but those Hutting days do evoke a certain nostalgia. The official signage in the scabby London borough where I live these days is remarkably similar to "Hutting blue". To this day I still get a tear in my eye whenever I see the litter bin by the bus stop.
I'm in Lewisham. Quite a nice part of Lewisham, mind you; we have trees and the teenagers aren't too stabby. Where do your lot live?
Mainz got... not boring, but "done". There's only so long a pretty city of 200,000 people can hold your interest. I then returned to my first love (ah, the regret of the maudlin drunk) with a couple of years in Hamburg, before actual affairs of the heart dragged me back to the UK. I won't claim the Wanderlust has left me entirely, but there's a lot to be said for 24-hour supermarkets and decent telly.
