I've had quite a few people contact me in the last few months saying they would like to continue working on mIRC-LJ. For one or two of them, I sent them my half-finished version 2.4.0 release, but since this seems to be a common interest I thought I'd take the time to finish it up and make one last release.

It came to my attention that mIRC-LJ's HTTP support was no longer working. I'm assuming it's an issue caused by the new load balancer (entirely my fault though, mIRC-LJ's HTTP handler was a kludge at best). I've rewritten it to be more robust, so it shouldn't break again unless a very drastic changes is made.

As you've probably noticed by now, LiveJournal has been trying to get users to vote for it in the 'Webby Awards' as a write-in candidate. The guy behind Blogger, Evan Williams, has recently got wind of this and pushed for Blogger users to vote for Blogger (a site which was already an option, rather than a write-in) to beat LiveJournal.

The server which contains, amongst other things, the mIRC-LJ site is currently down indefinitely. Until it returns, you will be unable to download mIRC-LJ from the mIRC-LJ site but it will work if you download from the LiveJournal server by both HTTP and FTP.

I'm going to contact my ISP shortly to find out when and if the server will be back up. ( Read more... )

The new version 2.3.2 fixes a minor bug that was present in all of the clients until now.

It also adds support for the priority server for paid users. The server will tell the client at login whether or not you are authorised to use the priority server, and if so.. well, you will.

I've released version 2.3.1 this evening. The main new feature is the ability to insert lines from channels directly into posts, complete with escaping of HTML special characters. I think now mIRC-LJ is worth having for people who often post things from IRC even if they use LJ-Win32 or the Web client for other things, but that's really just my ( Read more... )

Due to the fact that I just did a quick flurry of revisions, there's some version confusion going on.

Version 2.2.0 is now on the LiveJournal Download page. This isn't the most current version, however, as 2.2.1 has since superseded it to provide the customisable output thing. 2.2.1 was revised at least three times since I originally mentioned it, ( Read more... )

I've identified a small bug in the checkfriends support in mIRC-LJ. The bug causes the checkfriends support to be activated even if login fails, and was caused by me putting the code to start the checking in slightly the wrong place.
