There were more news about the bear today. First an most important: I saw a picture of the henhouse the bear was supposed to have broken into. It was more like an aviary: through the meshwire, the bear must have seen the fowl clearly, probably wildly fluttering around- food served on a silver plate... He'd have been a stupid bear not to take them

They come into camps in settlements and eat whatever they can get; tourists are strongly advides to keep all their provisions in scent-tight containers, hang them up on a tree and/or never interfere when the bears come and try to find food. They're not exactly shy, either.

But I'll have to ask terminalfrost, as in Strahan-mun from Milliways; she's a) Canadian and b) knows a lot about animals in general.

Have you found out more? I'm quite glad he's gone for now and I hope they are not just covering up that he's already shot.

A friend of my mothers used to bring me "Beware of the bears"-leaflets from Canada, but I don't have them any more and remember only some of it. And bears where not top of priorities in our ethology class. But wait... There must be a book on bears somewhere in this room... *gone hunting-a book, that is*

Nah, I didn't manage to catch her last night. Just now, the radio claimed some Austrian had actually seen the bear. But who knows how credible he is? Claiming to see the bear gives you a free ticket to your fifteen minutes, after all.

I have now asked Strahan-mun, and she says:

"If it's losing its fear of people it could be potentially dangerous. I mean, humans aren't as powerful as a bear is, and brown bears can be pretty lethal when motivated to be."

So I guess that Canadians would probably try to hunt or catch him as well, and it's not just Bavarians overreacting. Still, I hope he makes it.
